Lyrics written by death row prisoner Gene Hathorn.
Music played, sung and composed by Kenneth Thordal.
Lyricist Gene Wilford Hathorn will probably never be able to hear these songs. He's been on death row since 1985. The last 15 years in total isolation - like all other Texan death row prisoners.
Kenneth says: "Even though Gene is guilty of a terrible crime he's still a human being with hopes, fears and longings. I hope that comes across in the songs and in the video."
Sara Koppel's video below is based on Gene's original drawings and Marco Evaristti's paintings.
Thanks for the add, and you got it right, that is the right TV show. By the way, I am moving back to Copenhagen again the day after tomorrow for a while. Curious to see if you have your Danish version on TV right now.
hi there ,no i dont mind a vid on my page my friend ,ive been involved with death row ,travelling over to the states and trying to help when i could ,so i think that tells you where i stand . take care my friend wishing you well in what you are trying to do
Thank you, Kenneth. "Death Town" is very powerful and haunting, it stays in my mind. It's a shame that Gene may never hear what you've done with his words.
Thank you so kindly my friend, for adding me and for the video. I do stand behind every death row inmate because there should be no such law. A regular sentence is plenty enough,& Congress as well as Senate need to learn what "Forgive" means. There is only one Judge and He is not human, therefore no human should be comdemned to die. There are too many innocent people right now on death row who should never have been sent to prison in the first place!
Thanks! Oh, i didn't mind at all. I think so many people might forget how those behind bars feel. I do not believe in the death penalty at all! The song and video had a great message, but man...very sad. :( Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work; stay in touch! :) Hugs, Linda.
jeg har studeret dansk paa universitet, jeg er lige ved at skrive mit special... men jeg tror at det kunne tage lidt tid... jeg skal tale om "Songs..." til nogle venner. jeg kunne godt lide videoen. hilser! Gherardo
