I am inspired to write music by the music that inspires and touches me. I admire and have been influenced by the songwriting of Hugh Prestwood, Diane Warren, Annie Lennox, Max Martin, Dolly Parton, Tony Arata, Rob Thomas, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Griffin, Gretchen Peters, Kara DioGuardi, Bobbie Gentry, Victoria Shaw, Claude Kelly, Bruce Springsteen, Matraca Berg, Stephanie Bentley, Angie Aparo, Don Schlitz, Mariah Carey, Albert Hammond, Chantal Kreviazuk, Gary Burr, Brian Howes and Aimee Mayo--the list is always growing. To be able to reach people and express through song the way these writers do would be the ultimate for me.
This song was written for the American Idol 2009 songwriter competition, which evidently is not happening. :-(

Yay, I'm your first comment. I saw Patti Griffin in your bio and I just had to write. L-O-V-E her! I wish they'd do a Patti Griffin night on Idol -- even though the home audience would be, like, "Who is that?!" Carly could sing "Let Him Fly" and David Archuleta could sing "Heavenly Day" -- now THAT would be worth hearing! LOL! :)
