Come join our weekly celebration of songwriting and Portland's songwriter community, every Thursday starting July 2, 7 - 10 pm at Artichoke Music's backgate cafe, 3130 SE Hawthorne in Portland.
The format is based on the Ballad Tree at the Kerrville Folk Festival: songwriters put their name in the hat and play one original song each as names are drawn.
Each week a featured performing songwriter presents a short set as well.
It's a great chance to share and hear new work from a wide variety of Portland-area songwriters and visitors.
Artichoke Music's cafe is a fine, all-ages listening room, with beer, wine, coffee and tea available. $5 cover, which goes to benefit Artichoke.
Hosted by Matt Meighan, backed by Sherry Pendarvis on upright bass.
If you'd like to be on the weekly email list for Songwriter Roundup, just send a message to me here.
Thanks, truly, for helping keep local folk in the hearts and minds of those who would otherwise be oblivious to the beauty of folk music and acoustic performance. Dizzy Boy Jones. (local artist)
You would think with all the genius and the brilliance of these times, we might find a higher purpose and a better use of mind. ~ Jackson Browne- Say It Isn't True~
I've had a wonderful time at the last two Roundups. I've enjoyed everything I heard, and this week we had quite a fun ruckus in the unplugged circle at the end. What a fine group of folks show up there! It's a great thing you've gotten going.
Matt -- you are such a stellar human and musician. We can't wait to be there at Albina in Portland on December 6th. Much fun and merrymaking will be had...THANK YOU!!!
