sym-po-si-um: A convivial meeting for drinking, music and intellectual discussion among ancient Greeks...
What better location for drinking, music and intellectual discussion than a bar that has had live music for decades and is one block from the UC Berkeley campus? With that kind of pedigree, we feel compelled to ensure that this acoustic open mic teaches you something and expands your musical horizons, or at least pours you a decent pint.
Sign-ups are at 9:00 sharp, music at 9:30.
We are now taking submissions for feature acts! As a feature act, you get to play for 20 minutes in the 6 spot (or round about there), and you get all the fame and glory that we can offer. Which isn't really all that much, but it's something! Check out the listing of shows to find out who will be featured in the coming weeks.
Tom Ammaniano (state assemblyman from San Francisco) just introduced a
bill into the state assembly to tax and regulate marijuana as we do
alcohol -- i.e., it would be legalized, taxed, and regulated. Like
alcohol, sales would be limited to folks over 21, penalties would be in
place for dui, sale to minors, etc. in other words, it sounds like the
right approach. The bill's official number is AB390, and more info will probably be available soon at www. norml. org and www. mpp. org.

Senator to encourage them to support the bill. You can look up their

Feel free to pass this along. The bill is fighting an uphill battle
against a vast legacy of misguided and uninformed policy, and it will
only have a chance of passing if people speak up in favor.
