The new demo is finally done. aaagghhh. It feels so good. Though I don't have any band members ---yet. I am sure I will be able to recruit some in Boston. And beg them to play with me! I do have a lot of wonderful musicians that recorded with me on the new demo. Check out my blog to see who! And thank you....thank you to Mister Erik Wofford. The best producer in town.
Influences
Electronica. All of it. Mostly a Drum-n-Bass fan. The pretty stuff. Not the scary stuff. The lounge style, very sensual and atmospheric breaks. They make me feel so yummy inside!
Other than that, I have two main female influences that have turned my world upside down. I can listen to ANY of their songs and be inspired. NINA SIMONE and BJORK. Do I have to say anything else? Ok....I will. So much emotion that comes out of those two women! agghh. Tortoise and Radiohead make me want to be in a band again. Sigur Ros put on the best live show I have ever seen...Surreal and emotional, and brought tears to my eyes. Antony and the Johnsons really makes me go to a deep place. BUT! I like the light, fun stuff too! I am a dancer, so I LOVE good hip-hop or rap. Stuff that makes me want to move, like Missy, Busta and Outkast do. I could definatley listen to all of The Police’s old stuff. Love that damn drummer. I love classical, and old jazz ladies like Billie. I grew up on country music, I love old Garth and George. But I am just now getting into old country like Jonny Cash and Willie. Phil Collins is pretty inspiring to me. Pink Floyd is pretty inspiring to me. Trent Reznor is pretty inspiring to me (although I am still discovering a lot about him and his music that I don’t know.) I love quirky or odd electronica like the Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, and Aphex Twin. Some recent groups that turn me on are The Cinematic Orchestra, The Presets, and Hot Chip. I recently came across The Art of Noise, and I have to say "Moments In Love" speaks to me. I love good oldies music. When songs were so simple and fun. Love me some Michael Jackson. I love listening to live blues and Jazz in Austin, and other Austin artists I am inspired by are Echobase Sound System, Govinda, and Carlton Cullins. Sade makes me just nod my head and groove. I love that. I definatly have an afinity for REALLY GOOD sad songs. Just the ones that can almost bring you to tears remembering a moment. The ones that make you stop in your tracks and just listen. Like EVERY ONE of Bill Wither’s songs. I can listen to "Lovely Day" on repeat for days in my car. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. See Line Woman. Feelin Good............

Sounds Like
Who do I sound like? Hahaha. I hate this question. I don't know. Ya'll tell me :-)
ART. SOUL. MUSIC. LOVE. CREATION. DEATH. INSPIRATION. LIFE. FREEDOM. CHAINS. COMMERCIAL. ABSTRACT. DARKNESS. BEAUTY. PAIN. PLEASURE. TRUTH. LIES. SUCCESS. FAILURE. ALONE. TOGETHER. TODAY. TOMORROW. GOOD. EVIL. TOO MUCH. NOT ENOUGH. MAN. WOMAN. BALANCE. These ideas, and thoughts are always running through my mind. THEY NEVER STOP. It is a lovely channel, rough at times, but always creating. I hope to be a good songwriter. And a stunning live performance artist. This is just the start of my ideas. My first three songs to ever produce. I hope to keep the channel open for art and soul and keep on keepin’ on till my day comes to a close. Yup.
hey baby. how is everything going? what are you up to? I just moved back to Austin from the Cayman Islands. It wasn't that great. Looking for a job and a life right now.
Hey Sonia, I thought I had you added on my music page... I'll have to check that. I don't know if I ever told you, but my jaw dropped when I first heard the music on your page about 6 months ago and I HAD to download your stuff. Your voice is amazing and your style combined with your voice captivated me instantly. It's a shame we never sang for each other back in the day when we performed together... I wish you the best, much success and you got mad love coming from ya boy,
Hope you can catch some of the CD release activity this week. Thurs Feb 14 free show at Waterloo Records 5pm sharp. Friday morning live on KGSR 9:15am.
I am about to overnight your pink slip to Boston. This means, you will be fired. And after I am all settled in NYC you can only come visit, but you can't stay ;)
sorry I missed you last night...I'm a bit under the weather. What do you think about that handsome puppy in my arms. A little shit and the greatest miracle all wrapped in one adorable package. You could only find something that wonderful @ walmart! I'm playing. Up on Claretin...Yikes! How is Jameson doing?
Hey! How's the weather up there? You'll never believe this, but the Crystal Method had a show in Cedar Street a while ago. I instantly thought of you. Holla back!
