My parents, Warren Zevon, The Beatles, CSNY, Neil Young, Arlo Guthrie, Peter Paul and Mary, The Mamas and the Papas, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell most recently Dave Matthews, David Elias, The Weepies, Antje Duvekot, Lori McKenna, Ellis Paul and everyone else I have listened to over the years. I have been compared to Loudon Wainwright III, Hank Williams Jr. (drunk), Townes VanZandt, Phil Ochs and David Allen Coe. I am honored to be mentioned in any of their company drunk or sober.
It was the summer of 1969 and my father had orders to Vietnam. On the evening before he departed, he taught me the chords to "Home on the Range" on his Harmony arch top guitar. He left the guitar in my keeping and asked me to play him the song when he returned. I practiced till my fingers bled and I was ready for him when he returned. That spark caught fire after September 11, 2001 confronted me as it did so many people with the stark reality that our time on this earth is limited and our opportunity to create and share diminishes with each passing day. That feeling inspired me to pick up a pen, and my guitar and write my first song, I haven't stopped since.
I suppose you would call me a Singer/Songwriter which is a fancy way of saying that I'm a story teller with a guitar who uses modern day society, politics and relationships to weave an entertaining view of life through my twisted lens. It's the "twist" that I put on topics that makes my songs and performances unique and memorable. My style reflects the influences of the folk, rock and country music that I grew up with in addition to my love for social and political commentary in lyrics. Some of the artists that had the biggest impact me were, The Beatles, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Arlo Guthrie and Loudon Wainwright III. You will find elements of their melodic structure and social and political commentary throughout my music.
It was like a dream...no...a DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!!!! Thank you, friend, for being the best co-conspirator a folkie could ask for :> Congratulations on your incredible CD, my friend!! Wishing you many, many reorders! see you soon, P ~(:>)
Hey i want to let you, and all my friends with whom i visit, that i always enjoy stopping by, even tho it's my bad i don't always get around to leaving a comment. But this time, i was thinkin bout how my mom taught me better. When u enter a room, u supposed to speak first to the people there, they not supposed to have to speak first lol. Even though, I know I am usually really busy recording my next album and everything, no excuses. So yea i wanted to say wassup, i like visiting your and others page when i wanna read, listen to music n stuff. U got a cool spot, and i hope your year is shaping up better than last year. Our life is supposed to get greater and greater right? Well let me know how everything is going with your goals for this year! ttyl
