Typically, if I have the instrument, I'll try to do the part. Sometimes I'll jump on rifflink and kick start a riff by turning it over to my brothas, the Rifflink Junkies. Who, even though I don't spend every waking moment living and breathing riffworks, still consider me a Junkie-in-abstentia so to speak. Those guys are awesome. So I guess it makes sense to list them as my band members! Wanna see who they are? The lineup is ever-evolving. They are listed on my friends list.
Influences
All the standard instrumentalists in the rock guitar genre of course. Satch, Vai, Malmsteen, etc. I don't try to copy them though. Just listen to them for inspiration and because it's fun! AND they are too hard for me to copy! Anyway, I'd rather make my own sound.
Aside from that, I came up playing in the 80s. So most of your hard and progressive rock bands were right up my alley. Rush, VH, AC-DC, ZZ Top, Yes, etc, and many metal bands as well. Though I was never really head over heels for 'hair bands', I did listen to alot of their stuff, cuz they had many great guitar hooks. Among a few of them, The Scorpions, Metallica, Ratt, Motley Crue.
Of course, the 90s brought many infuences as well. LOTS of talent and innovators to be had int he 90s. 311, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, Sublime, Mother Love Bone, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, RHCP, Collective Soul, Cake, Bad Religion, Foo-Fighters, and, of course, WEEN! hehe... Lots of great guitar hooks, tons and tons of tone, and backbeats that not only kept time, but carried songs to other places. Long live grunge and post-grunge!
But we can't forget the classics either. The guys who set the bar for all those guys in the 80s. The Who, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Boston, AC-DC, Pink Floyd, Jim Morrison and the Doors, etc.... These guys are the underlying reason for being for many of the above-mentioned machines.

Eddie was fantastic, best I've seen him in 15 years! My opinion the group needs to gel a bit but probably will over the tour (assuming Dave can keep his ass in his chaps).
Ok, I'll TIVO it, but just so you know, didn't really care for their PETA show. I thought they painted a very negative picture, although partially true of an organization that does 95% more for animals than most. Just an opinion. Thanks Beau!
hey I figured out the harmonics thing finally. as far as I can tell it only works on a few frets. I still can't go from hammering on to doing them though. I guess I'm to tense when doing that with my pinky. I had to put duct tape at the base of my index and pinky fingers cuz that e string is is making me bleed.
I think I will do a quick re-write of our "latest" gimme a couple days
