The purpose of this page is to keep everyone informed about the Sonic Drive In’s being built in Michigan.
The first Sonic to open in Michigan is located in Southgate at 16270 Fort St. John Matar of Grosse Ile Township and his partner, Fred Rafou of West Bloomfield, are planning to open 15 Sonic restaurants in Wayne County.
The next planned Sonic to be built will be in Canton others are planned or proposed, communities that will be home to additional Sonic restaurants could include Flat Rock, Lincoln Park, Taylor, Woodhaven, Monroe, Livonia, Westland and Garden City.
I grew up with Sonic just down the street, so I was pretty pumped to see them coming to Michigan. Infact, my brother's 20th birthday gift is an hour road trip to the one in Southgate! He misses Sonic just as much as I do! About time Sonic wised up! Can't wait for the one in Canton. Then it will be a 20 min trip for me!
cant believe its still packed, but thats great for business i know. last sunday was visit number 3 for me, and this time i brought 2 other cars full of people with me for a work function. had a blast, ordered our food, and then tailgated in meijers. will probably be back next week.
Once again I came and visted today people think Im nuts for driving that far for a rt44 slush but they dont understand!!!!!! Come build in Clinton Twp. PLEASEEEEEEEEE I cant afford gas pretty soon:):):):)
Anywhere on Hall Road would be a perfect location for a Sonic, there also needs to be one in the Madison Heights/Royal Oak/Warren area. Just thought I'd pass along the info. Keep up the good work!
so i had the lemon-berry real fruit slushi today at sonic, it was so good,,,,,,,,,,yummy!!!!!!!! thank god they are only like 5 min away from my house yay!1
We've been waiting for Sonic for a long time too and were very excited that the first one would be in our town! :o) I was there for the ribbon cutting (got my pic in the paper) and 4 more times in the first week. We love it. Gotta love those girls trying to roller skate that have never roller skated a day in their lives..lol The food is VERY good and my fav thing is the Chocolate Pie Shake.. OMG...soooo good!
Hey I talked to I beleive Fred on Saturday night asking him about the Sonic opening in Canton. It will be located on the corner of Ford Road and Canton Center Drive. In the Meijer Parking lot. They must have a think with Meijers LOL. Just figured that I would let everyone know this now. They said sometime around Thanksgiving it will be open. I cant wait that will be alot closer than me driving all the way to southgate.
they really need to consider building a sonic in the northern suburbs, possibly the sterling heights area. i live in romeo and all the ones that are going up are quite a hike for me =(.
We Drove over from Warren to Sonic on Wednesday...and waited 20 minutes in line! line went fast, very organized:) LOVED to FOOD!!! worth the wait...can't wait to come back.
