Hi... my name's Al and a lot of you might know me from Suburban Voice 'zine, Maximum Rock 'n Roll or from my hanging out around the Boston punk scene for way too many years.
Sonic Overload is my on-line radio show. It began in March of 2000 on Allston-Brighton Free Radio under its original name, Inflammable Material. I changed the name to Sonic Overload shortly after beginning the show because, to be honest, I had a tough time pronouncing Inflammable... true story. The show began webcasting in mid-'03, originally on webspace provided by Adam Gandelman and, since early '04, by Jim from MooCow Records. Allston-Brighton Free Radio closed its doors in early '05 but I decided there was no way I was going to stop doing the show. So I bought some DJ equipment and started recording the show at home. The show is updated every Monday and you can listen to it by clicking on this link. I play punk, hardcore, garage and other mainly loud music, although there are occasional surprises--new wave, classic rock or something completely off the wall.
If you'd like to send something for potential airplay--vinyl and CD are fine but I can't play cassettes--here's the address:
SONIC OVERLOAD
c/o Al Quint
PO Box 2746
Lynn, MA 01903
... and if you post an ad for your band, label etc, then please make sure one gets sent to the show.
Thanks for the support!
