Sonic Porno is a fucking loud three-piece from Brisbane, Australia. The boys from The Porno have been terrorising venues around Australia
since 2006, and with a solid reputation as one of Brisbane's hardest working and energetic live acts, we don't plan on stopping any time soon. Beginning life as a garage 2 piece before venturing into 3 piece mode, the current lineup is a true powerhouse of filthy duelling guitars, unique vocals and thundering drums, creating a wall of sound which harks back to the Stoner Rock days.
You never know what you're gonna get at a Sonic Porno show; burlesque dancers, semi dressed goth vixens, hustlers, Harleys and impromptu acts of controlled aggression are quite the norm, with a live show that kicks off in top gear and does not stop until the lads hit the bar for their infamous post-performance Jager Bomb.
We are proud to record at Alchemix Studios in Wooloongabba, Brisbane; official releases are raw and emotional, non-pretentious and extremely addictive. You can also catch Porno tracks on the occasional compilation and secret internet release, so turn up the volume and trash your bedroom you little punk mongrels. RIP Kurt, grunge is not dead.

Grunge Is Not Dead EP Review in Time Off
The long-awaited debut EP from Sonic Porno is a vehement, foaming-at-the-mouth rejection of glitzy pomposity and a passionate embrace of the raw, archetypal
spirit of rock and roll. The Brissy duo recorded these four tracks completely live, retaining nothing more than smashing percussion, hollering Robert
Smith-style vocals, and riffs that pummel like a freight train to the face. Despite its title - and one particularly Nirvana-sounding riff (‘Waiting Around’)
- GIND draws the energy of Black Flag and the lo-fi approach of The Black Keys. This is how rock and roll should be!
Life After Death EP Review in Time Off
Hot on the heels of their brash 2006 debut EP Grunge Is Not Dead, local purveyors of garage grunge Sonic Porno continue to kick impressive goals with this their second EP. Across these six tracks the duo make brilliant use of the loud/soft dynamic, which causes these songs to subtly creep up on the listener, before pummelling like a sledgehammer to the face with chunky riffage and emotion-charged vocals. This is realised best on standout tracks ‘Think Of You’ and ‘Crystal Death’, which also further frame vocalist/guitarist Tone Porno as a compelling rock and roll vocalist. Then on the unbridled, liberating ‘Riff Patrol’, Tone thrashes a particularly intense scream down the mic to startling effect. Life After Death rings true with the promise of big things for this talented Brissy act.
Fasterlouder Review, GRUNGEFEST headliner at The Zoo
Sonic Porno know what they’re doing and they do it well. This two piece band is absolute in its song formation and sound quality. Each song differs in tempo and lyrics, from fast and loud to slow and beautiful – Their song Eleven is a good indication of this. Tone Porno has the most delectable singing voice that compliments the master of percussion Joel Sonic superbly. Mostly songs about death, love and girls, Sonic Porno put on an explosive show that just proves grunge is not dead.
Time Off local Review:
“With the release of their debut EP, late last year, Sonic Porno convincingly staked their claim as one of Brisbane’s finest purveyors of raw Garage rock n’
roll. An intoxicating, balls-to-the-wall blend of all that is virtuous and primal in rock music, Sonic Porno undoubtingly have a successful career ahead of
them.”
Rave Magazine Live Review:
The confines of the Zoo...acted as a perfect backdrop for two-piece Sonic Porno’s brand of brash, primal rock. Pausing regularly to banter with the embryonic
crowd, the pair rock out with a White Stripes flavour to the driving beat of Fugitive and Way High, while their suspender-clad burlesque dancer shimmies
suggestively around the stage.
Lords of Wong
“Merciless. Without mercy. Skilled and chilled. They dragged me into the light and got me drunk and slipped me a mickey. And when I woke up I begged for more.
I would advise anyone to get into the nearest venue and see these guys do their thing live. It's amazing.”
Time Off Mag
"...Sonic Porno have become respected for an almost military commitment to playing live on a weekly basis,....their second, and equally brilliant EP, Life After Death, reveals added depth to the band’s raw aesthetic.."
Rave Magazine:
”Infamous Brisbane grunge two piece, Sonic Porno blew the audience away with a booming voice, nasty drums and dirty guitar action.”
Random Punter at Alive in Oz Festival:
”If the United Nations had Sonic Porno, there would be no wars on Earth...”
Time Off Local:
“Brisbane two piece raw-rockers Sonic Porno have an arousing sound that would tempt even the most righteous of men. The Porno are making waves.”
Time Off Local News:
“With not one, but several burlesque dancers now incorporated into their live show, and a new double-kick drummer that would make Dave Grohl nod in approval,
these are exciting times for garage grunge duo Sonic Porno. .”
Justin Grey, Timeoff live reviewer:
"Look at the successful garage duos (White Stripes, Black Keys, and our very own Sonic Porno), and they all sound larger than their duo status suggests. "
Timeoff Local News:
"Catch the duo before they go global....you have one successful little band on your hands "
Rave Magazine EP Review:
"...sludgy riffs and despairing vocals. It couldn’t possibly sound grungier"
Time Off Gig Review:
"...garage grunge duo Sonic Porno are continuing to kick goals as a consistent live act."
The Fumes
"Your sound is fuckin RAD"
Rave Magazine
"....Grunge Is Not Dead,as SONIC PORNO have been proclaiming from their place on the rock pulpit..."
Fasterlouder Live Review:
"White Stripes meets the Sex Pistols with a dash of hilarity added into the mix."
Stu Harvey, JJJ Unearthed:
“It’s The Cult meets Nirvana. Serious Potential there.”
Random Punter at Reason Fest:
“Vocals like 'Bleach' and guitars like 'Goo'.”
Psychoflop, Myspace band critic:
“Grunge never died guys, it just got tuned lower...With that being said, Queensland seems to be the new seattle.”
Philthy Phil, The Black Market
“Though the crowd was chill, Sonic Porno just came in my ear-pussy.”
God
“I fuckin' love you guys.”
