SONICULTURE 013
Soniculture welcomes a new artist to the family. Bernard Siefert,
better known as Nhar is known for his releases on labels such as
Mobilee, Meerestief, Plak and Modelisme. His hypnotic sound is
unique, adding at the same time fine tuned melodies and vocals, in
this way, enriching the whole musical experience. With this
release, Nhar shows us a bit more energy, keeping the soul and
exploring the feelings that characterize his productions, but making
us dance even more than usual. This is an amazing piece of work
from one of the most original producers of the new french techno
scene.
The A Side begins with “Derceto”, a very modern techno track but
with an old school touch and an outstanding percussion
arrangement. The hypnotic bassline is strong and involving and the
vocals make it dirty, when needed. Thinkfreak closes this side
with a powerful remix, taking the energy to higher levels and
making it a dance floor slammer for the craziest moments of the
night (or day).
With “Owls are not what they seem”, Nhar shows us how hypnotic
he can be. The track is filled with sophistication and the production
details are exquisite. This is electronic dance music at its best.
Dalessandro & Expander present a version of “Owls are not what
they seem” that is sexy and groovy and is for sure perfect for that
special after hour moment or simply when there is a special need
for love.

SONICULTURE UNLIMITED004
Soniculture Unlimited 004 brings us two of today’s most exciting
portuguese techno producers in just one package. Re:Axis are
known for their releases on labels such as Autist, Piso,
Sammeplatz and their very own Monocline records, while
Thinkfreak has been doing incredible stuff on Soniculture. Bring
on the minimal action…let’s have maximal fun.
Kicking off with “It’s never late to return”, Re:Axis create a dark
and hypnotic atmosphere, shooting elaborate, fine tuned sounds in
several directions. Every fresh listening experience brings us a
new perspective as if we look at it in a different angle. Works also
perfectly on the dance floor as does “I can not believe”, with its
groovy bass line, that makes it less serious and more fun. The
plethora of sounds is still present, in different shapes and sizes,
and everything becomes even more interesting. “Mechanical
Instinct” contains a bit of both previous tracks…dance floor
oriented, but also dark and hypnotic, it merges the views explored
by the other two into a new original composition.
The featured remix in this package is performed by Thinkfreak,
who has been releasing regularly on Soniculture since the famous
“Human Error” (Soniculture 004). The rework he performed on
“Mechanical Instinct” keeps it hypnotic but adds a bit more
punch and a new assortment of fresh ideas.

SONICULTURE CD 03
When music historians take a look back at 2008, it will come as no surprise that the year wasn't the best in terms of techno output. With cries of Abe Duque's legendary track "What Happened?" reverberating throughout the industry, 2009 is poised to be the year where techno makes it comeback. Chicago based producer Billy Dalessandro needs no introduction. He has been there to witness the many changes techno has gone through in the past decade, and offers "Polis" as his response. Featuring 11 tracks, his debut album for Soniculture (and fourth artist album in his career) is a look at city structure ("Polis" being the Greek word bearing the meaning "city"), the crumbling facades amidst urban decay. The world is headed into one of its most uncertain times, and that fear is reflected in these dark productions that Dalessandro created with late nights and early mornings in mind. For from the darkest hours great things often emerge, and when music historians look back on 2009 as the year that techno made its comeback, "Polis" will certainly be among those works receiving great praise.

Here is Polis Vol. 2. A1 - "Call Girl" If we were to classify this track we can maybe call it Hi Tech Hypnotic techno. Even more refined than his previous "Nymphotech" Huge Hephner release on Siteholder, it will work perfectly on the dancefloor during the most demanding hours of the night. A2 - "In the Red" (feat. Goldslanted) Billy has invited Goldslanted to perform vocals on this ingenious breakbeak track, spiced with a nice touch of acid. Back to the hood, yo! B1 - "Inebriate" Yet another perspective of Billy's originality, bringing techno back to the underground, where it belongs. B2 - "Only your touch" The perfect way to end the album. Melodic, intense and uplifting. Reminds us that the world may not be such a dark place after all.

This is volume 1, which contains "Acidburn" and features a very special remix from Gui Boratto. A perfect way to kick off this project. A - Billy Dalessandro - "Acidburn" This is an amazing track which shows how futuristic Billy can be. A hypnotic bassline, with acid influences, takes us through a multidimensional journey into space, fuelled by the most exquisite techno. A true gem that proves Billy's originality and capability of surprising us in every release. B - Billy Dalessandro - "Acidburn", Gui Boratto remix Keeping the idea of the original bassline, the south american wonder boy Gui Boratto, produced the perfect remix for "Acidburn". By making it more progressive and emotional, it gains a different appeal. The piano detail is superb and in a way reminds us of Steve Bug's "Loverboy". The result is amazing. A great piece of work from one of the world's most special electronic musician.
