Jerk Appeal SCS-001 JERK APPEAL - s/t EP
First recording from this criminally underestimated outfit. Pure 80's-influenced melodic hardcore reminding some California greats such as The Adolescents or Social Distortion. With member of U.S. Bombs and L.E.S. Stitches.
Genetic Control SCS-002 GENETIC CONTROL - Brave New World CD (!!!!SOLD OUT, SOLD OUT,SOLD OUT!!!)
This CD includes the now impossible to find First Impressions EP of 1984 plus 17 live songs recorded in 1998 at a reunion show. No longer do you have to pay 400$ on Ebay for the EP, neither you do have to purchase shitty bootlegs to learn how good these songs are. Like maximumrocknroll said: "Genetic Control's one and only 7" from 1984 is one of Canada's all-time hardcore gems; it's impossible to get but unlike a few of the hardcore holy grails it actually lives up to the hype". In case you still wonder, this is true hardcore madness: fast, tight, dry with some melodies thrown here and there. A true classic.
SC.U.M SCS-003 SC.U.M. - Born Too Soon CD
This long out of print LP originally released in 1985 is now available for the first time on CD format (release January 2006). SC.U.M. is one of Montreal's most important punk or hardcore band ever. This band had all the good targets: U.S. imperialism, the religious right, rednecks, conformity and of course, police brutality, and all this angry lyrical content was delivered over a perfect blend of Black Sabbath loudness and Black Flag power.
The Sunday Sinners SCS-004
"Gospel has always had that raw, maniacal enthusiasm that carried over to rock’n’roll and gave Little Richard a career. For every Reverend Charlie Jackson and early 60s Staple Singers, there’s plenty of non-denominational ears out there who aren’t too hip on the monotheistic message, and just want to feel the spirit---what ever it is. Just look at the Oblivians last album. Montreal’s Sunday Sinners play heartfelt hymns that recall the beautifully blurred line between R&B and gospel’s country twang. On their newest release, Sweet Jam, on the mysterious Sonik’s Chicken Shrimp label, they layout a six song path of warmly executed soul-soothers. Previously performing with the Montreal supergroup, The Del-Gators, Jenna Roker has a voice that is prefect stylistically: rich, deep and velvety. And her delivery is classically sultry, ––think Ronnie Spector." By Brett Cross, Victim of Time website.

The Kids 30th Anniversary SCS-005
"The Killed By Death-collector conspiracy has foisted a lot of b-team 70s bands onto the ears of the record buying public over the last 15 years but it has to be handed up in spades to an early volume in the series for introducing many to the fine and non-subtle joys of the Kids of Belgium. The thing I don’t get is how the Kids were ever forgotten in the first place, I mean, this band was huge in their home country and toured all over the place and their first LP actually sold pretty well … it’s just a testament to the utterly pathetic state of "rock history" in the late 80s and early 90s that these guys were relegated to the "totally forgotten" category, waiting for a bootlegger to re-introduce them to the world. This CD is a legit reissue of their first two LPs, from (early!) 1977 and ’78 respectively, and tacks on live tracks featuring superlative sound so you won't just skip ‘em in the shuffle. Not to overstate, but the first Kids long-player is one of the 20 best in the history of punk, probably top 50 in rock history overall, while their second is ‘merely’ top 50 punk, say top 200 rock. They managed to graft a sincerely sneering teenage 50s rock ‘n roll heart onto a post-Velvet Underground Rock ‘N Roll Frankenstein that hoofed it reeeeeal fast, and they were only a power trio besides! How's that for unapologetic hype? Buy this or go hang yourself". The Z Gun, www.z-gun.org Oct 2006(!!!!!!SOLD OUT,SOLD OUT, SOLD OUT!!!!)
The 222's SCS-006

Fair Warning SCS-007
“Finally, here’s the reissue for the only LP by Montreal’s hardcore legends, Fair Warning. The album, You Are The Scene!, gets the Sonik’s Chicken Shrimp’s treatment, which means a digital remastering and a whole lot of never before heard bonus material. This CD compiles the album, compilation tracks, demo material, and recording sessions from the band’s ‘secret vault’. Over 20 years after its first release, You Are The Scene! Remains a classic in the hardcore punk world.” Scratch Records
Throbbing Purple SCS-008 Bursting out of their hometown Montreal, Let It Writhe is the debut cd from punk "supergroup" The Throbbing Purple. Featuring ex-members of the 222's, 39 Steps, The Subhumans and The Unrule, Let It Writhe is 10 tracks of solid garage-y rock & roll in the tradition of The Dolls and The Stooges.
"The Kids" -SCS-009. Legit vinyl re-issue of this fantastic Belgian punk band's first LP. We get tired of seeing pioneers not get their financial due, and we got tired of seeing bootleg copies of this classic album. We combined with Havoc records to create a fully endorsed Lp to keep this rock and roll alive. We've added two bonus tracks "The City is Dead" and "No Work" to round it all out. A limited number(300) of Purple ones were pressed as well.
"THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL"!!!!
"The Aversions"-SCS 010 "ex nihilo nihil" - The latest addition to the Chicken Shrimp label is this Montreal/Quebec City Punk and Roll outfit. 10 songs spread on a full length 45 LP with lyrics insert. Just when you thought rock and roll was dead, we release something new.*********************************************************
Maximum Rock'n'Roll June 2009:
The Aversions "Ex Nihilo Nihil" LP:
Storming out of Québec, Canada, THE AVERISIONS absolutely rip it up on this new full length LP!! This reminds me of my days in NYC a few years back, when Dot-Dash shows were abundant and featured bands like THE SPITS, THE BLACK LIPS, THE TAMPOFFS, and so many more... Sometimes this style of frantic rock'n'roll loses my attention when it gets too spastic and retarded, but THE AVERSIONS manage to walk that fine line between too much chaos and straight-up rock'n'roll for the majority of this record. Top honors for the songs "Rififi" and "Don Juan in Hell" which are both scorching hot!! If this album is any indication, I'd bet the farm that these guys put on a helluva live show!! (ML)
