Aufgewachsen in der Bronx, in einer riesigen Künstlerfamilie voll von Musikern und Tänzern, ist Akanni ein multitalentierter Künstler mit tiefen Wurzeln im Oldschool-HipHop als Rapper und B-Boy der ersten Stunde, der sich schon immer leichtfüßig zwischen den verschiedensten Genres der Kunst und Musik bewegt hat. Seit er denken kann, ist er als Sänger, Rapper, MC und Moderator, Keyboarder, Bassist, Gitarrist, Drummer, DJ, Produzent, Komponist, Tänzer (Breakin, Pop-Lockin), Choreograph, Tanzlehrer und Maler aktiv. Akanni’s Musik-Stil ist eine Neo-Soul-HipHop-Fusion mit tief gehenden Melodien auf kopf-nickenden street-edge Beats – die ultimative urbane Orchestrierung. 1998 gründete er die Band Star Eye mit DJ Dr. Chris, zu der nach verschiedenen Kollaborationen mit Musikern und Bands heute auch Geigerin Heli gehört. Aktuell moderiert Akanni außerdem Berlins größtes Soul/HipHop Live Event liveDEMO. 2005 feierten Heli und Akanni die Eröffnung ihrer ersten eigenen Location, dem Sonix, Zuhause von Akannis erster Solo-Show Soul City Magic.

Akanni ist durch viele Länder - u.a. Israel, Brasilien, Mexico, Kanada, Norway und Japan - getourt und gastierte mit dem Ringling Brothers Circus in jeder großen Arena der USA – von Madison Square Garden bis zum Superdome. Werdegang - Theater: Gorgeous Mosaic, Jam On The Groove, Funkalicious Multi-Arts, Clap Ya Hands, und Akanni's aktuelle show, Soul City Magic. Soul City Magic is based on a ghetto childs quest to be the best, and his desire to try to do as much as he can as an artist. The place were he grew up, that is the soul city were so many creative people made their own magic happen, and some of this magic has travelled all over the world. Now, Akanni is bringing You his own magic, straight out of the heart of the soul city.

With Soul City Magic, You can expect a high energy multitalented one-man-show filled with urban soul combined with all elements of the stage from music, song and dance to theater and comedy and much much more. This instrument juggling, dance style switching interactive experience is sure to be great funky fun for people of all ages.
