SON OF KICK is music’s best-kept secret. A much respected multi instrumentalist, bass maker, and vocalist who thrives to produce and loves to DJ.
His style mixes bass addiction with electro/Hip Hop/dub/dubstep & funk and has the ears of the hottest US and European labels & producers duly pricked.
Now is the time to free his art from the confines of the studio. His eclectic and distinctive ‘WAKE YOUR SHIT UP’ musical style forever asking the questions no one else dare.
Of French and Asian/Middle Eastern parentage now residing in London, Mika Abadie is the Son Of Kick and plays for pleasure any and all percussion based instrument; guitar, bass and keys. This multi layered musical background, passion and knowledge ranging from US Hip Hop to Persian classical, gives Mika an edge over his contemporaries.
His hybrid Hip Hop, dubstep, electro, ‘barefoot’ style has already been picked up by a range of stables; most recently for the Stanton Warrior’s imprint "Beats"; Man Recordings (Berlin), ESL Music out of Washington DC and for Botchit and Scarper (London), whose EP release Byrdkick is on release right about now.
The last quarter of 2009 features two particularly stunning and quite different S.O.K. remixes including the electro glitch dancefloor smasher for Federico Aubele’s 12” Amatoria on ESL Music, and the much talked about mix of Boombox for San Fran’s Bassnectar which is released in time for the Xmas festivities on Childs Play/Amorphous/Om Records.
