"All In" is the fourth full length CD release by Son of Rose, the recording project of sound and video artist Kamran Sadeghi. A release inspired by the idea of collectivism and the atmosphere that is experienced in a time of change, "All In" has an embracing effect with it's long form structure, subtle yet surprising transitions, and modulating transcendent tone.
Following the 2007 release "Divisions In Parallel", Son Of Rose continues his approach of using real-time digital signal processing combined with various objects interacting with the strings of a piano. Integral to Sadeghi's process is his willingness to locate and explore unconventional sounds from formal and pop music instruments , often times rendering the original source nearly unrecognizable. The "All In" studio sessions rely on live takes in order to capture the holistic immediacy of each composition, keeping post production alterations to a minimum.
"All In" is comprised of recordings made between 2004 and 2009, and was made possible in part by a grant from the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs. The album art includes a series of vibrant, abstract and geometric photographs by Sadeghi, serving the listener's eyes with sensations similar to what is in store for their ears.

TWO AND A HALF QUESTIONS FROM HEADPHONE COMMUTE
-Can you possibly describe your composition process?
"My compositional process begins with an acute act of listening, no matter what the desired result may be at the start of a project. I often spend hours listening to just one facet of a sound, building this intense dialogue and relationship with it. As the dialogue develops this snowball effect begins were I'm so buried in constructing, deconstructing, enhancing and reducing..... the next thing you know hours, sometimes days, have passed without me even knowing how one line became this landscape of sonic events."
-Tell us more about the concept behind the Kha series.
"The Kha series has two main facets at this stage of it's conception; rhythmic centric composition, and using sound as a source of pure data. Over the years I have abandoned the use of rhythm in my work for one reason or another, and it has been a refreshing and challenging addition/reunion to my process. I have also been using sound to determine the outcome of things such as text, color and dimension in my audio video installations and performances. Overall, I'm fascinated and engaged with the integrity of sound beyond a musical context."
-I'm always fascinated when artists release material concurrently under different names.
"How do you decide which releases will go under the Son of Rose or your real name?
Yeah, I agree it is fascinating and for me it was a decision based on a few ideas; to have the creative liberty in doing very different projects, both musical and non-musical, without concern for how it may or may not fit into a certain identity framework, and also to add variation to my day. Son of Rose will remain the outlet for more electroacoustic based work for the time being."
-At which point does "digital" become "organic"?
"Well... when you can bite into it!"

"Sadeghi’s Son of Rose is less a musical enterprise and more of a sonic travel operator, vaguely shepherding his sounds towards finding design and harmony, but without spelling the route out too clearly so they can stray interestingly along their chosen pathways and find interesting tangents and by-roads."

"Kamran Sadeghi, aka Son of Rose, has carved a niche over the last couple years sculpting tinkling drapes of simmering sound from elemental minutiae."
-The Wire
------
"Beautifully deep and sculptural sound design is combined with a deft touch on the arrangements to give you a sense of intimacy with the work"
-Smallfish

"Son of Rose creates a brilliant constellation of silvery ambience that recalls early Orb and Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project."
-Dave Segal

"Son of Rose (Seattle producer Kamran Sadeghi) is big on sonic minutiae. Microscopic sounds loom large in his art. For Sadeghi, the subliminal is sublime. Shhh. Hear that? It's the intimate immensity of this extravagantly subtle electronic music."
-Dave Segal
-----
"there’s a unique delicacy and poise to his compositions. More like digital scrims made up of fluctuating groupings of microscopic events,"
-The Wire

"Son of Rose's set stood out in that it was distinctly tactile amidst sea of computers. Using ebows on the strings of a grand piano, he manipulated the vibrations electronically or used them to trigger synth sounds that were in turn manipulated"
