If you never experienced SOW live, you unfortunately missed the boat. We loved putting on sick shows, complete with b-movie horror skits, choreographed dancing, fire juggling and gallons of blood, to entertain minds nearly as deranged as ours.
One component of the live SOW show involved dark belly dance routines performed by Amy Harrison, Tina Kornmeier and Lois Marshall. That aspect of SOW has flourished in the form of a NEW project called CAIRO SOUND CLASH. Spence Harrison released the debut CSC album in June 2009, which you can check out here:

Why did the SOW party end? A lot of reasons. For one thing, Spence got really into making Dub Reggae, Arabic percussion, Live PA, Teutonic folk, and other forms of music which did not quite fit the SOW format. For another thing, this town -REALLY- needed a place for bands to get their set tight. Son of William eventually stopped doing live shows in 2004 when its founders bought an old tobacco factory and got busy turning it into a music rehearsal hall called Utopia Studios. We now have 22 music rooms, a dance studio, new bellydance venue called Necropolis and an MMA gym:
Before Utopia, we opened Berzerker Studios,
an arts center for music rehearsal, recording and shows (flash animation courtesty of Jeff Carline, RIP). Berzerker became best-known for the crazy shows held in our private venue, the Zoo Room, including several Son of William events...like 'Night of the Ripper' when Jack the Ripper murders were reenacted onstage with Hydeware Theatre as we played, and the 'Pit & the Pendulum' show, when we turned the whole venue into a 12th-century torture chamber complete with period torture devices and a waxwork Inquisitioner. Ahh, good times!
Before starting the studios in St. Louis, we lived in London and had a couple of live lineups gigging around at places like the Underworld in Camden and Manchester. Ours shows were not nearly as elaborate in those days, but it was an exciting time to be involved in the European goth scene. We met some great people, contributed to skads of compilations and even put out our own little zine called SOWthistle, to promote underground music. This was back in the early to mid-nineties, before the internet changed how things were done.
"Wolfen" needs to be up for this next week, as Halloween approaches. Been too long since we've had a show that was up to your caliber. If EVER you decide it's time to resurrect (for at least one show), talk to me. We can try to get something that works. I still play the music regularly at RAPTURE/REQUIEM, and the people DANCE!
