Sonolumina currently consists of Jamie Kern and Melissa Iacono, who have known each other for a terrifying 20 years. Aaaah! Melissa's vocals do not yet appear on this page, but in a few months we should be able to remedy that situation. Note that all the songs presently on this page are in a rough state - there are some mistakes and some parts where the quality is poor. Also, they only have one or two instruments and voice at present.
This band began in late 2005 when Melissa and Jamie, who have always loved music, realized they both had a strong drive to delve into the music business. From that point on, Jamie started devoting a large percentage of her free time to writing music, mostly on keyboard and piano, keeping in mind the unusually wide and expressive range of Melissa's voice. From early 2006-March 2007, Jamie worked together with Mike and Amy Wyant on a project (The J.A.M. Experiment), which helped her greatly to widen her skills at recording, editing, playing, and even writing music. With any luck, the time will soon come to put together those skills, Melissa's vocals, and as yet unknown additional band members.
The growing popularity of the first three bands on our 'influences' list truly helped us decide to do this... in many ways, people are taught that reaching for a goal such as being a successful band is futile, and we shouldn't even bother. But I've come to realize not only is that not true, it's not the way to look at things. If you enjoy making music, you should do it regardless of whether you expect to get paid for it. Just do it! Write music in your spare time, in the shower, in your head before you go to sleep, while you eat, while you play a video game, while you walk, while you talk to your friends, while you clean your home, while you play a sport, while you type a letter. When you start writing music, you'll find yourself doing it all the time, even when you're not thinking about it. And it is definately worth it to me, even if I never make a dime from it.
Some of the music on this page may also appear on The J.A.M. Experiment's page or the few J.A.M. Experiment CDs that exist, since the bands' songwriter is the same person (Jamie). The songs themselves are copyrighted to Jamie Kern while the arrangements are the property of each band, depending on who is present in the recording.
All material on this page belogs to Sonolumina (2007)... and cannot be used without our express permission!
Just wanted to let you know that I put up a new song today. It's called "Out There". Like all my songs at the moment, it's not finished, but I put it up so people like you, who's opinions I value can leave feedback, and influence the finished product.
I was pleased to find some new stuff to listen to since I was last here!! I'm so excited for you. Your album is going to be amazing when it's done!
Hi! Damn i wasn't here for quite long ;] to be honest i wasn't anywhere on myspace:P I posted a new track (but don't think i write here only becouse of that). Maybe you'll like it. It's nice to listen to your stuff again :) How are you anyway?;]
Hey Jamie! I'll call Faith haunting! Very nice. It stays with you. I actually think it has quite a cinematic feel to it...I could hear this behind an emotional moment in a film. Cool.
Nice track. Sounds little bit like "the voices from the other side":P somehow i thought this first after listening... But still my favourite is wings of ash. It has rally cool vibe.
Thanks again! Glad you enjoy the music. This is and has always been my sanity. I can tell listening that it must be the same for you! So here's to productive music futures (with or without fame and fortune!)! Keep me posted...it's been great listening to the progress!
Very nice! I need to get myself as motivated as you are these days! We've been moving in slow motion. Nice to see you making progress...it won't be long before I can say I know somebody famous!
Actually i did generate all sounds electronically (except bass ofcourse) and it sounds as it sounds couse i got poor gear, all of it is made in midi. Also i had to compress it pretty much to fit myspace ;) About my bad...i think its not what guys would like me to write for it, but who knows, maybe ill use something, someday;)
Im glad you liked it and thx for kind words. Keep rockin'!
