What happened to Sons of Noah?
I want to start of by saying that, yes, I know some of you will not like the new band name. But in all fairness, we didn't do it for you guys. So there. But here's the deal. First an explanation:
One day, Sons of Noah and friends were hanging out watching The Lord of the Rings. We got to the end of the third movie, and specifically to the part where Frodo is unable to climb Mt. Doom and Sam puts Frodo on his shoulders and carries him up the mountain. About this point I became slightly irate. I began a commentary on how, every time Frodo tries to leave Sam, Sam refuses to let him go. When Frodo turned his back on Sam and told him to leave, Sam refused to give up on him. When Frodo accuses, Sam forgives. And even at the end when Frodo is not strong enough to accomplish the task set before him, Sam puts him on his own shoulders and carries him the rest of the way. It occurred to me that Frodo does not deserve the credit that he's given and that Sam is the true hero of the series. Hence the name: Sam's the Hero.
Now to answer the question of why. It first must be stated that Sons of Noah, apart from there being three of them and three of us, held no special significance to us. It was the best of a few lame names we were throwing around in the period of time leading up to our first show. We were more or less, stuck with it. We've been contemplating changing our name for a couple years now, and officially decided to do it while touring this past summer. Sam's the Hero has come a long way in this past year with regard to finding ourselves musically and as a band. We are not the same band that we were when we got started. This is sort of a more concrete way of stating that fact; a way of separation between the band we are and the band we started as. The new name means something significant to us and we prefer it to the old.
So thanks to all of you who have offered kind words in this time of change. We love you just as much.
