About Sons of the Ozarks

John Taylor grew up in the midst of the rich music traditions of Stone County's Arkansas Ozarks where he absorbed the music of his community and began to play in on the banjo, fiddle, and dobro. A self-taught musician, he soon began to excel on his chosen instruments. Like others born with music in their blood, John's interest in music is not limited to that which has been "handed down" to him. He easily crosses the so-called musical lines and is equally at home with bluegrass and country styles. While John is a contemporary link in a long and important chain of a living music tradition, the real reason for listening to his music over and over again is the sheer pleasure and joy it brings.

John's youngest son Gentry has developed his musical abilities since he started singing "Take Me Back to Tulsa" several years ago. Close to Bob Davis he has excelled as a lead guitarist and has put his own spin on some of Bob's licks and arrangements.

John's oldest son J.W. has branched into mandolin after several years of rhythm guitar. He excels with both instruments.

Gentry's wife Jennifer has sung with the family since she was 15. She was very active in music while in school and had the privilege of attending the Southwest American Choral Directors Honor Choir and now pursues her dream of singing for a living.

The Sons of the Ozarks Music Theater is located in Mountain View, Arkansas. Owned by the Taylor family, the group consists of John, Gentry, and J.W. Taylor along with a few other family members and friends. Come and join them for a night of fun family entertainment! Request your favorite songs, take a turn around the dance floor, and let the grandkids dance their hearts out on the hoedowns.
