Honest, gritty rock and roll that will make you wanna dance! The Sons of York combine the innocence of early '60s pop with tough guitars, aggressive drums and street smart lyrics.
The band consists two brothers who sport a mean side-part, and a drummer who is anti-comb. The Sons' capture the charming pop sensibilities of The Hollies and early Who, and manage to make it sound as hip as The Strokes. At their live show, hips shake as Winnipeg scenesters rediscover the joy of dancing to rock n' roll. With a hard sound and honest lyrics, their overall vibe remains undeniably fun.
Brothers Luke and Jake were raised on classic rock. Music was just a hobby throughout their high school careers as jocks. But when The Strokes, The Vines and The Hives showed up, the boys were hooked. In 2004 The Sons of York joined mentor bands Quinzy, Alverstone and Inward Eye in a booming Winnipeg music scene. After a few line-up changes they found a solid drummer in Erik Strom whose raw energy and hard hitting style instantly meshed.
The Sons of York's first trip into the studio produced tracks like If Ya Can't Get A Girl, Hurricane, and Secret Love, which immediately found radio acceptance. If Ya Can't Get A Girl was included on 92.9 Kick FM's Homespun – a compilation of the most requested local artists. By 2007, the Son's cracked mainstream radio with airplay on Hot 103 and Freq 107 and were selected for Power 97's Class of 2007 compilation.
With a growing fan base, The Sons of York released their first EP - Chicks, Dudes, Bad Attitudes - in March 2008 and are ready to hit the road! These boys will continue to convince their generation to dance to live rock and roll - which has been a thing of the past for far too long.

Hi Luke... great to hear you are ok and Sons of York are releasing their new album. Yeh I'm probably the first in Deventer who hears it. I'm flattered. I listened to it and I'm pretty surprised to hear its great music again. I bet it was great fun and hard work to record it. Are you excited for the 28th? Great to release the album on a special party. If I weren't in Mexico, I surely would have come there ;) Im pretty good tho.. a bit to much work tho but thats why i need a small vacation. I hope your album is going to sell very good and I hope you get a lot of positive kritics.
