Sontronics was founded in 2004 by Trevor Coley and launched at the 2005 NAMM Show with a range of stunning mics designed and developed in the UK by Trevor himself. Over the years the brand has grown from strength to strength, with innovative products continually being added to the range, including the SIGMA ribbon microphone, the APOLLO X/Y stereo ribbon microphone and our ULTIMA range of professional cables.
The most recent addition to our product family is the DELTA ribbon microphone, designed for use in live sound applications as well as in the studio. Beta-tested by some of LA's top producers and engineers, the mic gives that classic ribbon tone, but is great for miking guitar amps and stage use.
Released in 2008 were the CHIMERA hybrid preamplifier/DI box - at the flick of switch you can choose between the silky smooth valve preamp channel (employing an Electro-Harmonix vacuum tube) and the pure, clear sound of the solid-state channel. Also new are the SONORA dual-channel solid-state portable preamp, the STC-6 handheld condenser mic, the STC-80 handheld dynamic mic and the MATRIX-10 professional mic stand.
