SonVer formed in November 2003, when ’Until The Stones Melt’ was recorded as an instrumental experiment/side project by Jo Quail [cellos] and Ben McLees [guitars], both of electro-rock band Earth Loop Recall. It wasn’t long before SonVer became a fully-fledged project, with the first gigs taking place in summer 2004.
SonVer self-released two EPs during 2004 & 2005, before releasing their eponymous 9-track debut album through Disconnected Music in November 2005.
The band’s music has attracted the attention of several film production companies, who have used SonVer’s work on the soundtracks to their films.
Recently, SonVer were commissioned by Dutch production company Orphic to write a soundtrack for their film ’Fade’ [see below].
SonVer’s live shows incorporate visuals by Simon Bryant, and as a result SonVer have played several AV clubs and festivals, including the Blackout Arts tent at Ashton Court Festival in Bristol and Fimbulvetr in Edinburgh.
In 2007, SonVer continued to play a series of live dates across London and the UK, including sets at 93ft East, The Luminaire, The Union Chapel and The Shambala Festival. In addition SonVer released the Vigil EP on May 30th.
During the summer of 2007, SonVer expanded to a quartet, with Jo & Ben being joined by Alistair Richardson [drums] and Ruban Byrne [guitar, bass].
SonVer begin 2008 with a one-off show in Lisbon, Portugal - while continuing work on their 2nd album, due for release later in the year.
