All About Sonya Meet Sonya Heller. Touring singer, songwriter, composer of urban ballads and native New Yorker. She's had her music performed frim Carnegie Hall in NYC to the Olympia theatre in Paris. Her soundscapes have been heard on award winning films, and as a soloist she seems to write a personal message to each and everyone of her listeners while appealing to the masses at the same time. There's a quiet intensity that permeates the room when Sonya picks up her guitar and starts to play. Her music has been defined as anything from Urban Americana to a phrase the French have coined "Pop/Folk/Jazz made in the USA!" A Billboard Honoree and first prize winner of the Indiegrrl Songwriters Contest for her song "Justine" Rolling Stone, Blues Again Crossroads magazine and Luna Guitars have all endorsed this American Diva who's been serving up her secret recipe of Urban Americana, topped with a jazzy/pop hot sauce. Sharing her time between Europe and the US... The press has this to say: Rolling Stone France- "Sonya Heller comes alive onstage" Rootstime - Belgium/Netherlands-...a singing and songwriting Joan of Arc, with a guitar in her hand and her voice as a weapon!" Music Morsels -US-"The Big Apple's latest gift to the singer/songwriter world" Acoustic Guitarist-France-"Comparing her to the greats, would not do this talent justice" Kaele-Switzerland-"Sonya is out to conquer Europe and no doubt will succeed" Crossroads-France-"Sonya Heller takes her place alongside the great female voices of the Folk and Jazz world." She's graced many stages. Here are just a few: Les Femmes du Monde - Paris The Badkuyp-Netherlands Fete de la Musique-Provence Les Mots de Minuit-France 2 Songs auf dem Boot-Berlin Divafest - Russian River, Cal. Columbia University - NYC Redwood College - Cal. Five Towns College - NY Great American Musicfest -Harrisburg Pa. Equinox - Radio France Club Sunside - Paris Vashon Earth Fair - Vashon, Wa. Her music speaks for itself and simply emanates from life on the streets of NYC. and an old hip soul. With loyal roots to comtemporary folk music, she' infused those early influences with a love for Jazz, blues, and stylistic explorations into her three octaves of vocal bliss.
