Heart (Ann Wilson), Styx (Dennis DeYoung), Journey (Steve Perry), Whitesnake (David Coverdell), Foreigner (Lou Gramm), Air Supply (Russell Hitchcock), Queensyche (Geoff Tate), Stryper (Michael Sweet), Survivor, Newsong, Carman, Sandi Patti, and others I am forgetting to list. All clearly people that can truly belt out a song and hold nothing back. All have vocal ranges that are incredible, too.

I hope just me. I don't really want to sound like anyone. I want to have my own style. Variety is the spice of life.
I am a singer/songwriter that has been writing songs since the age of 17. My first song I ever wrote was "I Want To Be (More Like Jesus)." I have recorded one CD. It was a gospel CD. I don't do gospel songs anymore though. I am changing to a more soulful ballad/pop rock type of songwriting now. I don't have anything recorded yet of my new songs, but I am working on them.
I had a couple of shots at a recording contract and I turned my back on it. The first time my kids were young. I chose to raise them instead of singing for a living. A decision my ex-husband never got over. All he saw was dollar signs. I didn't want someone else raising my kids. I wanted to do it, and you only have one shot at getting it right.
The second time, I turned it down because I was told my songs had too much of a message and would have to be watered down for radio play. I decided to send it to internet stations for them to play it instead. I got some really positive feedback for someone controversial. People liked it because it wasn't watered down. It had some substance. It had a real message.
I never have been one to change to the likes of the masses. To compromise my music, as it has been given to me, would be like the reference in the Bible, neither hot or cold, you will be spit out. Have a commitment. Have a purpose. Don't worry about what others think. Your eternity is not in their hands. Follow your heart.
