| | Movies | My most recent favorites are: The Lives of Others, The Departed, and Crash. My oldies-but-greaties are: Brief Encounter, The Quiet Man, An Affair to Remember, and Groundhog Day.
| | Television | The Office, South Park, Extras, Curb Your Enthusiasm, the Colbert Report, and Saved By The Bell—my husband was the head writer!
| | Books | Poetry, of course, especially if it’s written by Billy Collins, Sharon Olds, Ron Koertge, Donald Hall, Alice Schertle, or Deborah Ruddell. And I’m a big fan of young adult novels. One of my recent favorites is “I Am the Messenger” by Markus Zusak. There's also a list of excellent novels up on the GREAT BOOKS page of my website www.sonyasones.com, as well as an enormous list of novels in verse...go check it out!
| | Heroes | my husband, my kids, my fans, teachers, librarians, Steven Malk, Myra Cohn Livingston, Al Gore, and the person who invented post-its (for the obvious reason that I couldn't live without them) |

About me:
You can find out way more than you ever wanted to know about me (and my books) by visiting www.sonyasones.com.

In the meantime, here are the cliff notes: I write novels in verse for teens. What’s a novel in verse? It’s a series of poems which, when you read them all in order, tell a story. (These are NOT the kind of poems that you have to analyze to figure out what they mean. In fact – please DON’T!).
Why don’t I just write regular novels? I don’t know how.
I’m really excited because my new book,
WHAT MY GIRLFRIEND DOESN’T KNOW
, is finally in the stores!
What the heck took me so long?
Well, I didn’t get the urge to write it until a couple of years after I wrote WHAT MY MOTHER DOESN’T KNOW. It happened because I kept getting emails from fans saying: “OMG! What happened next! I’ve got to know!” And after hearing this question day after day, year after year, I realized that I, too, wanted to know what happened next. And that the only way for me to find out was to write the sequel. I chose to write it in Robin’s voice because his was the story that intrigued me most—what would happen to a homely guy, the school’s biggest loser, if he suddenly found himself with a girlfriend for the first time in his life?
And now, you can finally find out! Yay!
WHAT MY GIRLFRIEND DOESN’T KNOW picks up the story right where the first book left off, only it’s told from Robin’s point of view. It was fun getting inside his head and looking around.
I’ll let Robin give you a little preview...
"My name is Robin.
This book is about me.
It tells the story of what happens
when after almost 15 pathetic years of loserdom,
the girl of my dreams finally falls for me.
That seems like it
would be a good thing, right?
Only it turns out to be
a lot more complicated than that.
Because I’m not gonna lie to you—
there are naked women involved.
Four of them, to be exact.
Though not in the way you might think.
Don’t get me wrong—
my girlfriend’s amazing.
But the way things have been going lately,
I’m starting to think that the only thing worse
than not getting what you want,
is getting it."

Who I'd like to meet:
There’s a lot of dead writers I wish I could meet: Truman Capote, Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Somerset Maugham, and Dorothy Parker are the first ones that spring to mind.
I’d also like to meet some living writer’s: Pete Hautman, Sharon Olds, J.K. Rowling, Steve Martin, and Ferlinghetti.
And there are some celebrities I’d like to meet: Woody Allen, Robin Williams, Harold Ramis, John Travolta...Wait! I already HAVE met those guys—and they’re amazing!
I’d like to meet Jack Floyd, the great guy who created my website www.sonyasones.com for me. And I'd like to meet Al Gore, so I could thank him for “An Inconvenient Truth.”
And, of course, I wish I could meet all my readers - especially the amazing fans who send me those fantastic emails!
Write to me at sonyasones@aol.com. I’d love to hear from YOU!
