Son y No Son is a long established Austin, TX Latin dance ensemble led by Rey Arteaga and accompanied by some of the best musicians in Austin. -
Founded in October of 1999, Son y No Son was a confederation of Austin musicians that got together after an afterhours gallery party gig, to play some of their favorite music for a good cause. -
The group was initially formalized to help Anthropos Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting music in area schools through presentations of workshops, classes and performances. Anthropos Arts has started many young people on their path to being exposed to and learning and playing jazz, Latin and other world music. We thought that was a great initiative and were eager to participate and are proud to be a part of that effort. -
Son y No Son however, has a long history of playing the local music scene as well and developed a bit of a local following. In our years together, we've played a host of club gigs, festivals, those crazy South Austin and Hyde Park house parties and we have more performances in store yet! -
For 2009, with a new performance series scheduled for Austin and Central and South Texas, we hope to see you at one of those South Austin house parties we're known for playing or we'll just see you at the club!
