I was born in Seattle Washington the youngest of six kids. Enjoyed most of the normal things kids do including downhill skiing, summer camp acting lessons going to yjr "island" in the San Juan Islands during the summer, and the usual visiting of relatives in and out of town. After graduating from High School early I tried college with a swim team scholarship in an Environmental Studies College in Ashland Wisconsin. All was going well when I had an accident on the black ice the day before Christmas and wound up ion the hospital. Due to a concussion I blew my finals and lost one of my jobs as well.

Became homesick and returned home to attend the University of Washington. I was working 3 jobs and was still going broke trying to afford living books and college. Sleep deprived and wanting a better life I applied to the IBEW JATC in Local #46 in 1977.

This was untraveled territory for a female at the time and the Apprenticeship director, Cliff Ollson, a Boilermaker...laughed in my face telling me I should go marry, and start a family instead. I made sure they had all my paperwork and intended to badger them until they allowed me into the training program.

Reluctantly they let me in the apprenticeship after an appearance from my Dad who persisted that not only was I qualified but I had a long standing member of IBEW Local #46 (him) in my close family. Nepatism worked for me |-: Pops didn't want me to be an electrician like him but since I had helped him out over the years...or more like tagged around with him....he helped me get in. Passed the Washington State Certification test in 1982 and within the next few years would find big changes not only happening in my workplace but in my outlook towards life and what it really means. Traveled to California a few years in 1983 and returned after my daughter was born tp live. It was mainly the weather. I had to get out of the rain! Never knew it but daily life in the continual rain drizzle and cold had made me somewhat depressed. Many think they would like to live in the rainy NorthWest saying "I love the rain and would move to Seattle in a heartbeat!", but I'll bet you would change your tune after 9 months of rain year after year. See, at first it is sort of neet, even romantic but month after month, year after year the continual pounding by the rain, wind and elements (not including sunshine) can wear you down. Give it two or three years and I say to you, "You don't like the rain as much as you thought you did do you?" Got to Carpinteria California where we loved our place on Foothill Road but the divorce had to happen so off I went. Next stop was Sacramento. I was not too fond of Sac. Now, my home is Bakersfield where we moved in 2005. I love this town! We have more work than most other places, the rain sort of plays hide'n seek but shows up from time to time and the sun at least makes an attempt to appear on a regular basis. The traffic is OK the mountains are spectacular and I have had pretty good luck with the people. Oh, did I say I love this town? At first when I got Valley Fever after moving here I thought I died and went to Hell. But after putting all the pieces together here life is pretty good.

I don't demand a whole lot from others or at least try to keep it even. A lot of the time practing acts of random kindness comes to me especially when the reality is these things only take a few minutes or hours out of a 24 hour day. I remember a story from a really young age about warm fuzzies where all these happy people threw warm fuzzies around freely. When they slowed down or began to stop tossing them back and forth they began to run out of them. I compare helping others to this.

I thought I was pretty happy up to age 34 when I had my first and only child. My teenage daughter means the world to me. I believe she made my life complete merely by coming into this world. You never knew how empty your life was until you have a child. She is my angel and of all things I love her the most.
