   About Sophia

NEW ALBUM JUST RECORDED. The album cover was designed by Emma Fenwick. The whole album was produced by Texture, and the track White Chocolate features beats by Mr Loop. More tracks to follow as soon as the incessant travelling pauses.

"see i didn't just happen, i was made this way by the same egomaniac that paved this way"

-atmosphere

My great-grandfather was one of those speaking-in-tongues, fire and brimstone soap-box preachers for an off the wall christian sect. My poetry is much the same thing, minus the religion.

I'm an observer who doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut. I unintentionally tread on toes. I'm old enough to be cynical about everything, and young enough to have a vague hope the term vox populi might still mean something. Slam poetry allows people a captive audience and a platform with which to say whatever they want. That's a very powerful opportunity and I intend to take advantage.

I've been writing and performing for nearly 3 years, and have performed all over the UK and in the US. I have two collections and an album coming out this year. Keep an eye on this page for details. Photographs on this page taken by Jacqui Ouanes. If interested in booking me for a gig please email me at sophia_poet@yahoo.com

Hey Sophia.
It was nice talking to you today. I am really psyched you are going to be performing with us. I knew when I saw you perform that you'd be perfect for these gigs. Here is some more info on Friday and beyond: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=410688427&blogId=500093614

It seems that you're quiet poetry spell has come to an end because we will definitely be performing every three months. The London thing is going to be off the hook too. Check it out at: http://www.onelawforall.org.uk/events.html

We'll look forward to seeing you on Friday. The venue is awesome as hell. It should be a good night.
Nat. :)

hey there.
i've just finished a 22hr mammoth album making session. we recorded, mixed and mastered 12 tracks. it was done in 3 studios with accompaniment from an ensemble of 9 musicians. driving home through the mountains at 7am feels like a dream remembered to me now. the book is with the printers, the Cd at the press. now its time to hype it. i'm posting tracks from the album on rotation every couple of days this and next week on my page. Tax and Under the slates are up there at the moment. have a listen.
good luck with all your endeavours. safe journeys.

Hiya Sophia, Matt here (devils golden harvest). Nice one for that CD you gave me at SNOG. Opened up a new world into slam poetry. while opening up new soundscapes in my head. Wrote some simple mad sound-environments to mingle with your words if your interested i'll post them to you.
