ABOUT SOPHIE:
I spent five years in the record business working for Sony UK and S Records (now Syco). I've worked with Simon Cowell, Westlife, Kelly Clarkson, The Beautiful South, Charlotte Church, Will Young, Il Divo, Pop Idol contestants including Gareth Gates, Darius Danesh and Michelle MacManus, and product managed records for Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow and the UK 2002 Eurvision Entry with Jessica Garlick. I am now a professional songwriter specialising in lyrics and top lines.
I have a passion for Pop, Singer/Songwriters, Country/Pop, Musical Theatre and Jazz Standards. I am a trained singer and vocal coach and play piano and keys. I co-produce. I can play the bassoon(!), I used to play violin and I am learning to play acoustic guitar.
The main projects over the last year or so have been co-writing songs for the forthcoming album by Laura & The Tears (due out 2010), writing pop songs to brief for major labels, developing a new musical theatre project with a team of writers under West End Producer Paul Nicholas, and co-writing with a small number of new singer-songwriters who are signed to major labels or management companies.
I currently hold the rights to all of my own work and am in talks with major publishers.
