Despite the fact that southern Alberta isn’t the ideal setting for the evolution of punk, the Sophmore Jakes have melded their own version of power pop punk rock scanning their own moral and cultural beliefs into well rounded and mature anthems for today’s youth. Drawing from influences such as the Clash, the Police, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Blink-182 the Sophmore Jakes are devout storytellers with a keen sense of humour and love of political satire.
The Sophmore Jakes have been together and touring for the last four years bringing their high energy show to small time clubs and big time music festivals. Never needing a reason to get back on the road Sophmore Jakes continue to site the musician credo "any excuse to play."
Although the power trio (age ranging from 21 to 23) remain rather young working in the music industry, they continue to smith their songs with the maturity and work ethic of seasoned songwriters.
During the summer of 2006 the boys took a much needed break to write and record their first full length and self titled album, an exquisite collection of ten songs bridging the gap between politics, heartbreak, love and revenge.

Ughh, I feel so horrible. I haven't commented, messaged, or even attempted to talk to you three in ages. I really miss you guys. And... I just wanted to let you guys know that you three are the most awesomest guys ever. Seriously. Your music makes me happy. I love blasting it in the halls of my school. =) Some people even stop me and ask who I'm listening to. It's awesome. And I've gotten a few more friends hooked onto you guys. Which is always a plus.
It seems like you don't check your myspace very much anymore. I was dissapointed. It's a great way to make fans, sometimes. Haha. Also, there's a site I found called garageband.com where you can put your songs up. I think people in record labels look at the music, and other people rate it. I thought of you guys. Haha.
And, that acousitc song of yours on facebook drives me insane. I love it. I really miss you guys. It's just not the same without seeing you guys around town. I know sometimes in school I actually get crazy, and think some of the guys here are you. I freak out. Haha.
Also, I think you guys should know. Haha I don't know why. When my mom first decided to move two years ago, we stayed for two reasons. So Britt could graduate from F P, and because I wasn't ready. I really didn't want to leave you guys, cause your all way to amazing and stuff. Haha I sound way mushy, but oh well? When we moved though, my mom promised me that the first show in Fort Macleod, she'd let me go. Any show in Lethbridge, she'd let me go. And then we suddenly showed up on Geoff's doorstep, and visited. Haha, some good memories. Simple, but good.
I really feel like I should do something to thank you for the three years or more of happiness. Don't know what yet though. =/
Anyways, enough of this mushy comment. =) Let's 'man' it up a bit.
