SOPHYA was formed in the late 90's by Idan K and Sonja R By the end of 1999 , the band was signed to 'Xymox Control' (owned by Ronny Moorings of the Dutch band 'Clan Of Xymox') Based in Holland - Amsterdam. In 2000, SOPHYA release of their critically Highly acclaimed debut album "THE AGE OF SOPHYA"(released by Pandaimoium records in EU and Metropolis records in the U.S.) and reactions of both press and audience were amazing. The name SOPHYA became immediately well known and a guarantee for lovingly music. After performing mainly in festivals across Europe and recordings for compilations and a tribute to the cure album, in 2002 the group had a change in line-up and joined with bass player Mario Usai (the haze) to record their second album "DREAM" which was released in April 2003. Tracks from Dream were constantly played on Dutch alternative radio programs and the album reached No.2 in the 2003 best alternative albums at musicfolio.com. The band continued touring and headlining venues, having a constant growing fan-base and appearing in various compilations across the world ("pale blue moon" was released by Sony Germany) In 2004, SOPHYA performed in the U.K and supported the famous Dutch band 'The Gathering', while being very busy working on their next release.. The band went back on stage in mid 2005 and also released their first video for the track MORE. The video for MORE gained popularity very quick after a premiere on Dutch 'VPRO' music channel & was then featured on MTV Holland brand new chart and reached number 2 in viewers votes ! After receiving an interest from Dutch Record label 'Mutantjasz Records'(Owned Dutch band 'MECANO') Sophya released, 'Third Wish' by the end of 2006.. "…Third Wish is deeply anchored in the traditional sound and production of Sophya. Delightful vocals, smooth basslines, guitars that carry you away to farther regions of your mind. All topped by touches of electronic elements that take your back in time. Third Wish certainly has its own character. With a fresh approach and strong beats, it shows yet another face of Sophya…". The band toured constantly across Holland and Europe in the year 2007 and 2008 , recorded and remixed exclusive tracks for compilations in south America and France , worked on music being used for modern dance performances and have a film featuring the bands story and are busy now working on the tracks for their next release , planned for late 2008.
