About me:

Myspace Layouts and SO much more from WhateverLife.com! ♥
Actually, it's "about us." We're the librarians at the South Orange Public Library who work most with teens. We try not to be the kind of librarians who fear computers and say "shhh" all the time. We have hundreds of books for teens- of course-, magazines, computers, graphic novels and comics, audiobooks and more. We want you to read them...trust me, you want to read them too! We want to use this page to keep you up to date on what's going on here...new books, events for teens, volunteer opportunities, and other cool stuff. So, be our friend. You can also use this page to get in touch with us -- let us know what you like, what you want more of, or just get to know the library. And when you actually want to come here...our address is 65 scotland rd., south orange. our website is www.sopl.org
Who I'd like to meet:
Someone's who's never been to the library before!

Can you believe it's 2008? I hope your holidays were wonderful.

By the way, Paraworld Zero is coming out this month. Yesterday it was ranked #540 on BN.com and #9 on Amazon.com under the "Magic and Wizards" category. Very exciting!

I wish you good luck on all that you do this year.

DON'T TELL MOTHER releases today at www. thewildrosepress. com .

:) Tara

Raised under the shadow of her popular and spoiled brother, AJ Dawson struggles to get any kind of compliment from her mother. At school she is forced to deal with a lot of the same issues. Her immature coach is determined to turn the team against her, her teammates are bent on losing every game, and the rest of the school population cowers in her presence. AJ knows the first step to solving her problems is to gain acceptance from her mother.

Easier said than done.

Her relationship with her mother goes from bad to worse when AJ’s new green-haired boyfriend knocks on the door. She knows she’ll have to clean up her guy if she wants to earn Mom’s respect. But AJ’s secret ability to foretell the future is driving her and her mom further apart, and if she doesn’t tell her mom about her horrible vision soon, her brother will die.

Hey Cool Librarians,

Keep up the great work! And if you know of any upper-elementary, middle-grade or high school guys looking for fun, fast-paced, high-action, funny books that are like video games but are easy-to-read (and did I say funny???) then please tell them to try the AL'S WORLD series! (Simon & Schuster, Aladdin paperbacks, $5.99)

Readers can check out my Website at www.eliseleonard.com, and if any of your patrons want to take pictures reading my AL'S WORLD books and want to email me the pics, I'll put them up on my Website: www.eliseleonard.com on the FRIENDS page! [They'll be famous! I get hits from all around the WORLD!] Just hit the contact page on my Website to send them to me.

Oh, and the second AL'S WORLD book, KILLER LUNCH LADY, was nominated for an ALA Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, so if you guys want to vote... go for it! :-)

Thanks for the add!

Howdy! Thanks for the add. I like the name CoolLibrarians. It's almost as good as the name HotLibrarians... just kidding. Thanks for all that you do to promote reading.

Keep an eye out for my upcoming teen novel, Paraworld Zero.

Thanks for the add. I hope you’ll check out my new tween novel, GIVING UP THE GHOST, set on a haunted plantation near New Orleans two years after Hurricane Katrina.

It’s my dearest wish that my novel’s themes of fear, grief, and forgiveness, leavened with humor and gripped by a ghostly mystery, will bring comfort and healing to young teens living with uncertainty in unsettling times.

KIRKUS says (9/15/07) it has “teen appeal in spades” and is “a good choice for reluctant readers”!

Thanks for the add!

In my most recent true crime book, I open my acknowledgements like this:
"Reference librarians are an often-unheralded gift from the heavens. They know where to look and how to find the tidbits of information that elude the rest of us.
"I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Sharon Hoyt, reference librarian at the Burlington County public library in New Jersey...Thanks, too, to reference librarian Brad Small at the Newark Public library."
If you know either of those other New Jersey librarians, let them know they are appreciated--just like you all are. Thank you for the job that you do.
