Opera and Classical Guitar's Lovechild. I am the daughter of a composer and a dancer. I grew up surrounded by artists. I began my musical studies in voice nearly a decade ago. My voice has taken me to stages all over the world. Roles include Handel's Cleopatra, Mozart's Queen of the Night, Strauss' Rosalinda and Heggie's Sister Rose. Towards the end of my undergraduate days I started singing with classical guitar accompaniment. I moved to Boulder from Los Angeles two years ago to pursue a graduate voice degree at University of Colorado at Boulder. On a whim, I started taking classical guitar lessons with Masakazu Ito at Denver's Lamont School. My classical guitar hobby soon became more of an obsession. My grandmother was a classical guitarist too! Like her, I can't seem to put the instrument down. I am quickly becoming an expert on the lesser known genre of art songs with classical guitar accompaniment. Believe it or not, there is no end to the repertoire. Everything from Spanish songs to music of the Napoleon French Court to music of South America to Bach, Mozart, Sor, Giuliani, Schubert, Rachmoninoff even Poulenc, ALL FOR VOICE AND CLASSICAL GUITAR! I've made it my mission to learn this beautiful music as both the singer and guitarist. I would like to make classical music more accessible by bringing my guitar and my voice to non-traditional venues. I'm in my final year of graduate studies, my thesis is Guitar in Opera. Look for me and my guitar in your local coffee shop and visit TARA f
