MOTLEY CRUE'S NEW VIDEO
Saints of Los Angeles
Saints of Los Angeles ..
Same Ol' Situation was formed in May of 2006. Members include: Jon Abell-Bass AKA Sikki Nixx, Dave Crigler-Guitar AKA Mick Mars, Rich Long AKA Tommy Lee and after a long search we found our newest member to our group - Stephen Rohr/Singer AKA Vince Neil. All members come from long and extensive musical backgrounds from the self taught to having degrees. We all play a variety of instruments and sing. Growing up our influences were THE ONE AND ONLY MOTLEY CRUE, Guns N Roses, Rush, Metallica, RATT, Dokken, Van Halen, AC/DC and Def Leppard. We all have the same passion and that is to PLAY ROCK AND ROLL, put on a GREAT show and most of all HAVE FUN! So after several months of many rehearsals and help from our good friends APPETITE FOR DECEPTION, Same Ol' Situation was finally ready to gig!
Jon Abell (Sikki Nixx):
Born April 23rd, 1969 in LaGrande, Oregon. I started playing the Drums - yes the drums - at the age of 13, when my parents bought me my first drum set. Boy were they sorry they did so, if you know what I mean. Soon after the noise needed to be controlled, I was given my first BASS. Which, I taught myself how to play. With many months of practice and hard work, I started playing in garage bands around town. I soon decided to take it to the next level and go on the road. So I packed up my belongings and moved to LA in the early 90's. Before long I started a hair metal band called LIVE WIRE. We played in most of the popular LA clubs for about 3 years. After experiencing the debauchery that LA has to offer, it was time for a change and so I moved back home to Oregon. I then formed a cover band called Versi and we gigged for about 2 years. After which I went on a 4 year hiatus. I found out that taking the time off made me appreciate music that much more. Once again I found myself yearning to play! So with that said, the makings Portland's Motley Crue Tribute Band - Same Ol' Situation was created. My influences are MOTLEY CRUE, RATT, GUNS AND ROSES, DOKKEN, VAN HALEN, AC/DC AND DEF LEPPARD - just to name a few!
Dave Norris (Dave Mars):
Born in Miami,FL in 1966. Started playing guitar at age 14. Graduated from South Beach High School. Then moved to Seattle. Music influences include Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Luciano Pavarati, but mostly all that wonderful 80's rock. My motto is "People who don't rock, suck.
Rich Long (Richy Lee):
Rich started playing the drums at 7 years old. I got my first drum kit age 11, and have been playing ever since. I have never have had any formal drum lessons (this could be good or bad all a matter of prospective). In the 9th grade a friend loaned me a tape (none other than RUSH All the World's A Stage) telling me to check this guy out. I was hooked. Had to learn more, hear more, become The Drum Kit Master....... During my 4 year stint in the Army I met would be band mate in GFA (God Fearing Atheist) and he turned me on to new drummers like Mickey Dee, Gene Hoglan, Double Bass Drumming is where it's at for me love that stuff......Well I have played in many local Portland Ore. Hard Rock and Metal Bands. (GFA, The Mandibles, Soula Scriptura, and Raging Angel to list a few) Music should be a Journey Progressive and some times complex leading to the next feature in life even at times it may just be straight forward but, by all means make it interesting!!!
Stephen Rohr (Stephen Neil):
Born and raised in Oregon, Stephen Rohr got an early start in music. At the age of 6 his parents enrolled him in piano lessons. A couple years later he was given his first guitar, and at 13, started his first garage band.
Moving to L.A. in the 90s, he played in a number of Metal bands in the capacity of guitar and/or vocalist. After 9 years in Southern California, Stephen longed to return to his roots and moved back to Oregon.
Looking to concentrate on his singing, Stephen entered himself into various karaoke competitions around Portland. Despite finding success in many events, nothing could match the thrill of taking the stage with a live band.
So after short stints with local cover bands, he co-founded new prog-metal act Shadow Of Doubt, then became the most recent addition to Same ol’ Situation.
Influences include Freddie Mercury, Klaus Meine, Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Dan Reed and Chris Cornell.
