"Woman's strongest vindication for speaking [is] that the world needs to hear her voice. It would be subversive of every human interest that the cry of one-half of the human family be stifled." -- Anna Julia Cooper
'Some of Us Are Brave' (SOUAB) is a Black Womens' Radio Program heard every Thursday at 2:00 pm Pacific/5:00 pm Eastern on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles, CA (www.kpfk.org) with rotating core hosts (Jan Robinson Flint, Kali Alexander, Ronda Dixon, Thandisizwe Chimurenga) and various guest hosts.
It is the mission of SOUAB (Some of Us Are Brave) to provide an empowering space for women of Afrikan descent - to assist them in finding their voices and speaking their truths, their experiences and their perspectives to the world; to be a resource for the communities from which we come; and to make a contribution to the global movement for racial, economic, political and social justice and peace.
Its purpose is three-fold:
= To provide a space for the voices and perspectives of Black women, since our voices and perspectives are silenced in much of the media;
= To raise the level of dialogue and analysis on issues of importance to Black women wherever they may be; and
= To provide food for the minds of Black women as opposed to simply playing music for the hearts and souls of Black women
We are a Black Womens' Radio Program, but you don't have to be a Black woman to listen!.. Check us out!

I have moved in the black eternalness of my mother’s body a microscopic embryo sending messages of communion and intimacy with the I AM, seeking expression, relationship, holiness with the breath of life, moving over the fluttering translucent beating membrane of my heart. by ty~e
