HOW DOES SOUL GEEK DIFFER FROM OTHER DATING SITES?

We’re the one with chewy nougat and peanuts…

We cater to a more specific group than most, i.e. fan-guys & fan-gals and we’re not just a dating site, which brings us to the next question –

IS SOUL GEEK ONLY FOR PEOPLE LOOKING TO DATE?

Outside their species? Yes…

Hell no – we offer Art and Photo Galleries, Blogs, Chat, Fan Fic, Forums and more! We’re kind of a no-waiting, one-stop geek shopping (no, we don’t offer shopping... unless you count the Dealer’s Room - then, yes, we offer shopping).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Well, average for dinner and a movie is about… Oh, you mean Soul Geek…

It’s free to join. With the free membership you get to create your own profile and receive hails and messages from other members which you even get to respond to. You also get to view Blogs, Galleries and read Fan-Fic ‘til you’re bloated and gassy. But it’s the paid membership where you really shift into warp drive. With that you get to create Blogs and Fan-Fic and you get literally hundreds of pages for images – Fan Art, CosPlay photos, whatever you want! (Just keep it clean – we’re not one of those kind of sites.) There are also seven, count’em SEVEN different chat rooms and just as many forums, geared to Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, Animation, Conventions, Gaming and Comics. The basic price is $9.95 a month. Far below the base price of most sites and considering most of those sites are just dating sites it’s a hell of a deal.

ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN COSTS?

You may notice a small Wookie Grooming fee on your Credit Card bill every month…

Nope. Nada. Zip, Zilch, Zippo. Unlike some sites that offer advice from “experts” and various other services and conveniently mention the cost only in the fine print we don’t have any hidden costs. $9.95 a month – that’s it. End of story. Finito.

IS IT SAFE?

What’re you, Laurence Olivier?

Online dating is no more dangerous or safe than any other kind of dating – you just have to be careful and use common sense.

I’M UNDER 18. IF MY PARENTS SEND WRITTEN PERMISSION CAN I BECOME A SOUL GEEK MEMBER?

No.

I’M UNDER 18. IF MY PARENTS SEND WRITTEN PERMISSION, BOTH LEGALLY SIGNED AND NOTARIZED, CAN I BECOME A SOUL GEEK MEMBER?

No.

I’M UNDER 18. IF I GO TO COURT AND BECOME EMANCIPATED AS AN ADULT WITH THE SPECIFIC INTENTION OF BECOMING A SOUL GEEK MEMBER, CAN I?

No.

You must be at least 18 years of age to become a member of www.SoulGeek.com, but any MySpace member over the age of 14 can join this MySpace profile and/or help spread the word about Soul Geek, so www.SoulGeek.com will be around when you turn 18. Thank you very much! :)

About me:
Sites by Doreen

The Soul Geek Network (www.soulgeek.com) is an online community and dating site directed towards avid SciFi, Horror, Fantasy, Animation, and Gamer fans everywhere.

It all started with a Gal.

On June 11th 2006, a Los Angeles area music club called The Mint, hosted a Battlestar Galactica Season 2 CD release party, sponsored by La-La Land Records. This event featured Galactica composer Bear McCreary and the rest of the Galactica musicians (mostly former members of Oingo Boingo) as they played live cuts from the season 2 soundtrack. Emcee for the evening was Actor Richard Hatch and the composer for the original Battlestar Galactica, Stu Philips, was a special guest.

And that’s where the Gal comes in.

This particular Gal had driven in from San Diego to attend the event, and when she saw this happy Fan-Guy/Fan-Gal couple she couldn’t help but with a tiny smile remark in a wistful tone:

“I hope I can find a Geek of my own here.”

This struck the couple. And when the event was over they couldn’t help but wonder about that Girl. She was young, she was pretty, AND she was enough of a Fan-Gal to drive all the way from San Diego to Los Angeles for a Battlestar Galactica event. That kind of Fan-Gal should have had Fan-Guys falling all over themselves to date her. And yet, here she was hoping to find someone.

This got the couple wondering about what online resources were out there specifically designed to network and bring fans just like her together. What they found wasn’t very encouraging. The Fan-Guy observed that there didn’t seem to be much where the world of Fandom and all its many facets were truly understood - something “huge” where you can tell that the creators really get the passion behind being a fan.” And to this, his Fan-Gal asked: “Then why don’t you create one?”

So with that little nudge, and the words of a Fan-Gal from San Diego as inspiration, work on SOULGEEK.COM began.

Knowing that Fan-Guys and Fan-Gals can spot a pretender a mile away, it was decided to build the project from the ground up almost entirely from scratch. The scope of the project proved to be so massive, with so much original code being written, that at times it required up to four full-time coders working around the clock. These coders worked in concert with a team of designers that included one chief designer, three artists and two writers – Fan-Guys and Fan-Gals all – who dedicated themselves to making Soul Geek a reality! With a lot of coffee, Chinese food, Otter Pops and a tiny apartment converted into a design office (with four computers that were always humming into the wee hours), SOULGEEK.COM was born in July of 2007 – just over a year after that fateful concert!

Soul Geek is not a sub-division of some giant dating service out to cash in on geeks. We truly are a homegrown community created and run by fans just like you! Geeks who love it all, from Movies, Books, Comics, and Collectibles - to Anime, Video Games, Cosplay, Fan-Art & Fan-Fic... and moreover, Geeks who feel “at home” with the world of passionate fandom found at conventions around the globe!

And we never forget, that it all started with a Gal…

Who I'd like to meet:

Do you know the difference between a light saber and a phaser?

Do you know who wrote The Halloween Tree?

Do you know what an Uruk-Hai is?

Do you know what Wolverine’s skeleton is made out of?

Do you know who Chuck Jones is?

Do you like talking/debating over how stupid/unfair entry into E3 was this year over a nice game of Dungeons and Dragons?

Then Soul Geek wants to meet you!

Soul Geek is always improving the site and its features! We now offer live video chat and more. Be sure to check out the Geeky News in the cool news update link!

Find Your Soul Geek at SoulGeek.Com! To us, this isn’t just a slogan -- it’s our mission statement. But it is a mission we can no longer do alone. So as people are finally beginning to ask: Who is soulgeek.com?” we now need each and every one of you to stand and say:

“Me… that’s who!”

We Soul Geeks have started something pretty cool. And we Soul Geeks should see that it lasts.

Thank you for your support,

Dino Andrade

Thank you. I was lucky to find my Soul Geek, but I have no doubt I would have found her even sooner if there was a service like your while I was looking. Thank you for helping the geek community find the love they so richly deserve.

P.S. (How do you put the picture in a post? I still have not been able to figure that out.)
