Soulacious is the hot new funk/soul/pop band to emerge from the Twin Cities music scene. Built by Craigslist, the popular internet site, Soulacious effortlessly blends 70's soul & funk with 80's pop, rock & hip-hop accompanied by catchy songwriting to create the "Soulacious Sound." Popular TV and radio personality Todd Walker exclaims, "It's like watching Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell with a bit of Run DMC and then you throw in a superbad guitarist like John Frusciante. They're absolutely amazing!"
The group (Jarrod Anderson and Kandii Matthews "vocals," Ezra Sauter "guitar," Dan Knoflicek "keys & synth", Ryan Scribner "bass" and Karl Dehkes "drums") have already established themselves as the "GoTo" band having been tapped to open for national soul legend and former Tower of Power lead singer, Lenny Williams and Minnesota Music Award winning band The New Congress. In 2008, longtime bar owner and music scout Dan Lessard made Soulacious a regular act at his Jitters Martini Bar where the band grew it's cult following every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month!
Singer/Songwriter and Producer Jarrod Anderson is a Twin Cities native whose musical credits include work in TV, radio jingles, theater, a solo CD "Every Part of Me" and the multi-artist recorded project "Uniting For You." "The best part of being a part of Soulacious is that fact that it has allowed me to grow musically as we've taken several genres of music and blended them to make our own funky sound!" The person he'd most like to meet? Quincy Jones.
Singer Kandii Matthews has been performing around the Twin Cities for over the last 17 yrs w/a variety of bands. She is best known for her involvement with "One World" a band made up of reggae, ska, r & b, & funk and a gospel group "Back 2 You" that included such local greats as Gwen Matthews, Debbie Duncan, and Dennis Spears.
Guitarist/Arranger Ezra Sauter grew up in the Minneapolis metro area and has been a musician for over 10 years. He has played bass, drums and electric guitar in various rock, funk and jazz bands in a professional capacity for the last 5 years. "Soulacious works because the name says it all: funky, simple, and damn, I can't help but shake that ass!" The most played album on his iPod: D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar".
Bassist Ryan "Scribs" Scribner has been playing bass for 8 years. Throughout his musical endeavors, he has opened for Mark Farner (lead singer/guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad), toured out West and his last band debuted a song on MTV's Real World Denver. Albums he's spinning right now include all West Coast G-Funk, Jamie Lidell's "Multiply" and Phoenix's "Alphabetical."
Dan Knoflicek has been playing in rock and jazz bands, theatrical pit orchestras, chamber ensembles, and even non-secular pop ensembles, since he was 10 years old. He came to the twin cities from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and studied upright & electric bass at McNally Smith Music School. Dan plays various instruments, and contributes a jazz influence to the Soulacious sound.
High energy, in the pocket and on the fly best describes Soulacious' new addition, drummer Karl Dehkes. A St. Paul native, Karl has performed in various percussion ensembles and with local solo artists. As a performer and entertainer, he has furthered his talent for setting the mood for parties and celebrations with his DJ business. Although his schedule stays tight, Karl's mother, Linda, has yet to miss a show.

If you dont know, I play for a blues artist named Bernard Allison & we will be performing at the fifth annual Famous Dave's BBQ & Blues Festival that will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009, from Noon to 10:30 p.m. at Peavey Plaza in Downtown Minneapolis (outdoors at 11th St. and Nicollet Mall)
