Molina Soleil & Aju’s genre-bending style is pure fusion. This bold and eclectic duo blends cultures, languages, and artistic styles, pairing masculine and feminine energies, water and fire.
Molina flows in the vein of inspiring lyricists who use Hip-Hop as a tool promote social justice , but he reps a style all his own as a Chicano/Mexicano emcee hailing from the small prison town of Rawlins, Wyoming. Molina’s rhymes are socially relevant and culturally reflective, yet flashy, dynamic, and entertaining all the same.
With her repertoire of 5 languages, Aju, originally from Tokyo, Japan, adds an international vibe to the duo’s style. Aju's soulful and poetic vocals echo the influence of internationally recognized artists like India Arie, Ayo, and Lhasa. Fans often compare her sultry voice to that of Shakira.
After joining forces late in 2008, Molina Soleil & Aju released a Hip-Hop fusion EP with DJ Icewater and a Spoken Word / Jazz fusion album with Asia Jazz Project. They have performed at major universities, nightclubs, and international cultural gatherings. The duo’s music is featured in the critically acclaimed documentary “Papers”, which is now screening nationally and was recently featured on CNN. Molina has shared the stage with artists like Saul Williams and the Flobots, and Molina Soleil & Aju are booked at universities, nightclubs, and festivals throughout 2010.
Molina Soleil & Aju are set to release a breakthrough album, “Soulaju”, in January 2010. “Soulaju” is an album rich in musicality, with a classic Hip-Hop vibe. It features the production of DJ Icewater, who has toured internationally with the Pharcyde and Shing02, and has recently mixed albums for artists like Lyrics Born and Jern Eye.

Molina Soleil is a nationally acclaimed poet, emcee and performance artist from a blue-collar Mexicano/Chicano background. Molina’s savvy, streetwise lyrics reflect his sense of social responsibility. Molina is a first-generation college student who graduated from law school in 2006. He chose to forgo a career in law and follow his passion, working tirelessly as an artist, educator, and youth advocate. Molina has performed at hundreds of events in clubs, cafes, parks, community centers, universities and public schools. Molina put together a benefit CD for “Papers” the movie, and also served as the film’s Music Supervisor.
Before joining Aju, Molina released the “Representin’ 4 Life EP” and “Up Before the Sunrise” with Mannequin Rituals. Aside from his music, Molina began teaching college classes at the age of 24. Mr. Molina has taught cultural studies and Hip-Hop history courses at the college and high school level. Molina has written numerous plays, including Phantom Discourse, which he directed, acted in, and toured during the spring of 2007. In December of 2008, Molina published and released his first book of poetry: Molina Soleil: The Age of Revision.

Aju is a human bridge, gypsy traveler, poet, dancer, and vocalist who spent the first half of her life in Japan. Aju weaves multiple languages into soulful verses that reflect her hybrid cultural upbringing and distinct artistic flare. As a poet and presenter, Aju is a candid divine feminine voice; her emerging body of work focuses on her experiences as an Asian-American woman, as well as her concerns for human rights and the global environment.
Before joining forces with Molina, Aju co-produced and/or performed in numerous theater/music fusion projects, including Mandala, The Dance Gallery Project, Sans Rituals Project, Peaces of the Uni-verse, and The Vagina Monologues (NYC). Aju also served as the Interim Director at El Centro de Muchos Colores at Ft. Lewis College during the fall of 2008.
