   About SOULBRAND THEORY

SOUL: The spiritual entity dwelling within, that is the essence of life.
BRAND: A trademark indicating the quality and pride of its creator.
THEORY: The methodology and practice behind a particular discipline.

Civilizations have been making music for as long as there has been a desire to enlighten the spirit. The United States alone has given birth to many great genres of music, such as Blues, Jazz, Rock, Funk, and Hip-Hop. Music was created to bring people together, whether it was slaves singing gospel hymns or over 500,000 people gathered at Woodstock to celebrate peace and the counter cultural movement of the 1960s.

These days, however, millions of people walk around without interaction, listening to music through iPods and cell phones, thus losing the original spirit of music. The art, spiritual energy, and precision that went into making these genres great has dissipated over the years to the point where music is often nothing more than digital waves hitting empty ears. In essence, a large part of the music industry has forgotten the three most important ingredients in music: brand, theory, and soul.

At a point when the United States is becoming more and more diverse, it is important that we become consciously involved in shaping the time we live in. Instead of living in a society where Rock music is for white people and Hip-Hop music is for black people, we must strive to be a society so engulfed in color that it is impossible to categorize people or music.

It is time for a new music, a hybrid music, one that blends all the elements of the five great American genres. It is time for a Soulbrand Theory.
