The marvellous Soulbump was born by the end of 1997. The former Fred's Fuel members Jonas, Fred and Anders Bjerfalk wanted to do something new. At this point the band only consisted of drums, guitar, bass and vocals and the urge for something groovy and melodic was strong. Anders Sjögren was contacted and he brought his horn and his flute.
When 1998 became 1999 the members of the Soulbump felt they wanted even more. Organ- and keyboardplayer Tommy Haglund and percussionist Markus Håkansson joined the band, and the complete Soulbump was born.
For two years, this sextet played at several clubs, bars and festivals with a great response for their own recognizable, groovy material. In Malmö, the summer of 2000, Soulbump played as starters for Robyn - the Swedish queen of soul at the grand opening of "Öresundsbron". Later on, together with their own DJ, the band went to Visby. The club Soulcream went on for a week and was appreciated because of the band keeping their beats going night after night. Other appreciated performances were at Kanal5´s summer tour and frequent visits at Mosebacke in Stockholm. After several years of slapping his bass, Soulbumps faithful bassman Anders B. resigned. We wish him the best of luck!
Soon the fabulous Jehad Hammad, an extremely skilled bass player, was contacted and with Jehad behind the electric bass guitar, Soulbump can continue to bring their groove coming to you, as always! The new Soulbump was born and the band continued to write some new material and incorporate Jehad into the Soulbump family. In September, Soulbump performed at Mosebacke with “electric Jehad” for the first time. And the groove couldn't be mistaken. It got Soulbump written all over it.
The man who loves to dance with his bass is back!!! After taking one year off Anders B. decided to join the band once more. The familiar urge of grooving with the Soulbump was obviously to strong for him. Soulbump is know looking forward to again incorporate the well-known slap, signed Anders B, into their new material.
Jehad Hammad has a lot of things rolling, and we assure you that you're going to see him again. He'll say good bye in Vaxholm this august.
Well there's not much to add. You all know Anders B. and Soulbump is, as always, keeping the grooves coming at ya. The Soulbump feels that there is something bubbling that soon must come out. Check out "What's up" continuously. We will soon perform again. We say welcome back to Anders B. and salute Jehad for his groovy days in Soulbump. You sure is a darn good bassman "Gäddan".
Tjoho!!!
