Artist Overview DJ POWER (THE SOUL CONTROLLER), Award winning DJ and remix producer is a master at pleasing crowds in the club, radio and mix cds. Known around the world for his crazy remixes and DJ style he was presented with a Justo's Mixtape Award in NYC for his Soul Controllers mashup compilations . His cd mixes have featured guest appearances by artists such as 50 cent, Busta Rhymes, Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel, Wycleff and more. His productions have been featured in the NY TIMES, SCRATCH magazine, FADER, RIDDIM mag etc. and he has produced remixes played by djs worldwide including his work on Mims "Why I'm Hot" remix with Junior Reid and Baby Cham and his remix to Knaan's World Cup Anthem "Waving Flag", "Bang Bang" feat. Adam Levine from Maroon 5 and "Right There" Nicole Scherzinger ft. 50 cent. His current single and video "Fly So High" with Machel Montano and Kardinal Offishall has received rave reviews and worldwide spins. Power has appeared on numerous tv and radio stations such as MTV, MUCHMUSIC, HOT 97NYC, BBC UK, FLOW 93.5fm Canada, JAPAN FM NETWORK, SBS (Australia) and HOTT 107.5FM Bermuda to name a few. Power is famous for his live remixing and mashup blending of Electro, Hip Hop, Top 40, House, Dancehall/Reggae, Rock, Salsa and Soca and has rocked parties at the most famous clubs in the world such as Club Marquee (NYC), Ten June (NYC), Empire Rooftop (NYC), Ajna (NYC), Muzik (Toronto), Blue Frog (Mumbai), G + (Shangai), Greenwood (Sydney), Bliss (St. Maarten) and many more including Las Vegas, Miami, London, Kingston, Auckland, Bermuda, Curacao, Montreal, Virgin Islands, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Houston, and Dallas to name a few. He has toured Asia and Australia numerous times and has dj'd parties hosted by P Diddy, Spike Lee, 50 cent, Ny Giants and more as well as tour dj'd for Pop/Reggae superstar Junior Reid of "One Blood" fame. Power is featured in a movie theatre commercial for Caterpillar and MIMS "This Is Why I'm Hot" remix video, a song which he co-produced. He is currently finishing up his debut studio album. HISTORY Dj Power is a native of Toronto, Canada and born to Trinidadian parents. His first dj crew the Soul Controllers first radio spot was CIUT 89.5 "Masterplan show". Under Soul Controllers he released his acclaimed "Reggae Meets Hip Hop" Cd series a mashup fusion of Dancehall/Reggae Hip Hop, House and Classics. In 2003 he joined Toronto's Flow 93.5fm "Trauma Unit" as radio dj and host. In 2004 Soul Controllers received a Justo's mixtape award in Ny and he relocated to Brooklyn and pursued his solo career under the moniker Dj Power "The Soul Controller". He consistently released his cd compilations to rave reviews including "Return of the Crime Minister" with artist Vybz Kartel featured in the NY Times. In 2007 he launched his syndicated "Outta Control Radio" show with BET "Rapcity" host Mad Linx in several different countries. In 2008 after producing the acclaimed "Why I'm Hot" cd with Reggae superstar Junior Reid featuring the platinum smash "This is Why I'm Hot" with Mims the two united on worldwide tours. In 2010 he released his "Waving Flag" remix by Knaan ft. Machel Montano the Coca Cola world cup anthem. In 2012 his current single and video "Fly So High" featuring Machel Montano and Kardinal Offishall is released with an EP to follow. -
