Ledisi: Turn Me Loose.
No musician forgets his or her first Grammy nomination. But Ledisi, an earthy R&B singer from Oakland, probably remembers hers for a unique reason: Announcing the nominees for last year's best new artist prize, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters admitted he didn't know how to pronounce Ledisi's name, presumably because he'd never come across it. (Needless to say, Grohl had no trouble with Taylor Swift and Amy Winehouse.)
For the record, the name rhymes with "legacy" -- appropriate for an artist whose breakthrough album, 2007's "Lost & Found," reflected a proudly conservative neo-soul sensibility.
Ledisi's new set, "Turn Me Loose," feels like the work of someone determined to make a deeper impact; it's glossier and more youth-oriented than "Lost & Found," with beatwise production by rap-friendly veterans such as Raphael Saadiq, Chucky Thompson and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. In the album's opener, "Runnin,' " Ledisi yowls like a punk-rock Tina Turner over a hard-knocking groove by Chief Xcel, half of the Bay Area hip-hop duo Blackalicious.
The singer sounds perfectly comfortable with her sonic makeover on "Turn Me Loose," particularly in the pair of cuts produced by the crafty Saadiq. "I can't keep living in the past," she sings in "Love Never Changes," one of three tracks here with the word "changes" in its title.
Yet for all the sleek settings and the vocal firepower Ledisi deploys, "Turn Me Loose" doesn't really present an artistic persona any more memorable than the earnest traditionalist from "Lost & Found." Ledisi extols the power of transformation but fails to demonstrate who precisely she's become.

BLACKsummers'night is the fourth studio album by American R&B and neo soul musician Maxwell, released July 7, 2009 on Columbia Records in the United States. Recording sessions for the album took place during 2007 to 2009 at Chung King Studios, Bowery Digital, and Platinum Sound Recording Studios in New York City. The album was produced entirely by Maxwell and musician Hod David. BLACKsummers'night is Maxwell's first album since his hiatus after his third album, Now (2001), and serves as the first part of his scheduled trilogy of albums. The music of BLACKsummers'night is rooted in general soul music, and is more straightforward than previous albums such as Embrya (1998). Maxwell's lyrics concern his falling in and out of love during his sabbatical period prior to the album's release..

Chidi:
With passionate vocals and a rich velvet tone that caresses the ear UK Singer-Songwriter CHIDI takes you on a musical journey beginning at the first note. Borrowing from the rich traditions of classic Soul music and blending a fusion of Rock Pop and Jazz CHIDI delivers her own brand of UK Soul. influences of artists such as Angie Stone, Otis Redding, Eric Clapton and a little Tina Turner thrown in for good measure. Her first solo project entitled 'UnRehearsed' is filled with honesty as she expresses her faith, her love and her heartbreaks.
Jonas:
Jonas' music is a modern interpretation of soul. Inspiration comes mainly from the old soul classics, but also draws lines to jazz and hip hop. What shines through is the way Jonas succeds in developing a sound that is completely his own. A warm gentle expressive voice and sound, combined with thoughtful, humerous and poetic lyrics, all adds up to a mixture that is super sexy and simply irressistable. He will be performing tracks and launching his current album WAITT (we're in this together)
Brooke Bailey
is a soulful, raw, unsigned uk talent based in London.
She is in her 4th year attending The Brit School of Performing Arts where she studies music as a full time student.
She is a lyricist, singer,performer with the ambition and persistence to create something beautifully unique that sets her apart from the rest.
Lifford Shillingford
Lifford..Singer, Songwriter, Music and Vocal producer, began his career singing in local bands at School functions, College talent contests and local bars. Then hs signed with called Public Demand produced by Trevoer Horn and signed to ZTT (Seal). After 3 years of record making, touring and fighting, Lifford went on to work with Aftful Dodger with whom he recorded two songs, one of which was released in 2000. ’Please Dont Turn Me On’ was a top 4 hit which launched Artful Dodgers album and launched Lifford into a heavy promotions campaign which included apearances on TV shows such as Top of The Pops, C.D.U.K, Later with Jooles Holland, London Today, Children In Need, Live and Kicking, T.F.I Friday, M.T.V, M.T.V Base Lounge, The Disney Channel and many more. This also was a great opportunity for Lifford to develop his skills as a solo live performer. Chaka Khan, Jocelyn Brown, Angie Brown, Incognito, Don E, and The Sugarbabes are among the many artists Lifford has already worked with, and he hopes to work with many more.. Lifford is currently involved in a few projects, this allows him to be eclectic, satisfying his need for work in different genres. .
