"a kind of “Rush meets neo-prog” with strong work on keyboards (lots of Hammond) and guitar, it sounds very powerful and exciting" (Erik Neuteboom - ProgWalhalla)
70's rock and jazz, psychedelia and fusion, progressive and classic music, with a "flower power" feeling and the virtuosity the boys in the band provide, that's SoulenginE. Renowned musicians from the Italian scene, already involved in other bands, have joined to work at this instrumental project.
They are based in Milan, Italy, and work on original compositions, influenced by progressive rock from the seventies (ELP, Yes, Genesis), jazz-fusion (Return To Forever, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra), psychedelia (Pink Floyd, Ozric Tentacles), and many other styles and artists, due to their previous musical growing ups. Right now Highway Music and FMCDP are producing their first album, entitled “Mind Colours”, which features tracks written by Ettore Salati and Fabio Mancini, and arranged by the two above in partnership with Nando de Luca and Giacomo Pacini.
The brave musicians:
Ettore Salati
- all sort of guitars, bass pedals: he collaborates with musicians from the international progressive rock scene, primary with Alex Carpani, and has worked for many years with one of the most important prog-rock act of nowadays, the band of The Watch: with them he recorded two studio albums, a live one, a live dvd, and has gigged all over the world. He graduated in modern guitar, contributed to guitar methods and started his career as a session musician, having worked with highlighted italian artists and great musicians like David Jackson (Van der Graaf Generator, Peter Gabriel), Aldo Tagliapietra (Le Orme, solo artist) and Karl Potter (Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus).
Fabio Mancini
- all sort of keyboards and synths: a brilliant musician, "borrowed" from classical music to rock; he earned professional degrees in organ and piano and won several organ contests. He started his professional career playing with many orchestras and choirs all over Italy, with whom he recorded some ACAM releases, and teaching piano, organ, theory and harmony; as a solo artist he gigged all over Europe and recorded piano and organ solo albums. He plays in The Watch ensemble, and he’s Ettore's bandmate since years.
Nando de Luca
- bass guitar, acoustic guitar: he started his musical path in Paris studying with well-known bass players, and back in Italy he began collaborating with many solo artists and bands in several different genres, with a special glance to jazz-rock projects. He contributed to rock releases for the Italian scene, he teaches bass techniques and arrangement in music schools, and is frequently on tour with his official band, Gleba, and with songwriter and vocalist Paolo Agosta.
Giacomo Pacini
– drums, percussions: a hard-working session drummer, he collaborates with many italian artists and is almost every day on tour. He studied with famous international drummers and then started an intense professional career that brought him to cut his drum recordings on several releases, to gig frequently all over Italy with solo artists (Alex Carpani, as well) and showbands, and to become an appreciated drum instructor.
The sigle “Rain Flower” is already available and will be released at a first time by Horus Music for “Italian Guitar Masters Compilation” in Fall 2008, as well as another song for "Purgatory", a project by Colossus and distributed by Musea Records in Spring 2009. The rest is soon to come, stay tuned for updates!
