Formed around a fire in South Africa's Cedarberg Mountains, Soulfire is an acoustic band combining the contributions of two singer-songwriters in Dave Starke and Duncan Breen. Blending influences ranging from classic songwriters such as Neil Young, James Taylor and Paul Simon to the current wave of acoustic acts such as Jack Johnson, Damien Rice and Jose Gonzalez, Soulfire creates a sound that is refreshing in its laidback honest approach.
Their debut album 'Soulfire' featured the hit single 'Live My Life' which featured on South African radio and download charts around the world. 'Rwanda', a meditation on reconciliation in the country following the genocide, was also received with critical acclaim.
Soulfire has recently returned to the studio to record tracks for their second album which is due for release latre this year. Aside from performing in Soulfire, Dave Starke is a teacher on South Africa's rural East Coast and Duncan Breen is a human rights activist working for refugee and migrant rights.

I particularly appreciated "Gorree Island" and "Rwanda." I read your notes on the back stories for both songs. Very thought provoking lyrics. Even though I live on the other side of the world I feel a common thread with my music. Similar sorts of issues move me as well. Thanks for sharing!
