Influences
SoulFuego combines funk and soul, music of the African diaspora and Latin jazz. We believe music is a language we can all understand.
Pianist, composer, and arranger Mateo Gloistein, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, formed SoulFuego in 2006 and the band has been captivating audiences ever since. SoulFuego plays music that is rhythmic and high-energy, a blend of Latin Jazz, funk and soul, inspired by the dance rhythms of Cuba and Puerto Rico. The group's repertoire includes original compositions and unique arrangements of standards with lyrics in Spanish and English.
The musicians performing with SoulFuego are experienced professionals of diverse backgrounds who perform locally, nationally, and internationally. Currently they are: Mateo Gloistein (piano, vocals), Rene Ginett (vocals, percussion), Tim Thompson (trumpet, percussion, vocals), Kimbal Sol Brown (trumpet), Ernest Stuart (trombone), Darryl Yokley, (saxophone), Rob Hagopian (bass), Dominique Thomas (congas), Josh Robinson (bongos, percussion), Francois Zayas (drums).
It's the Anniversary of Media's Second Saturday! From 6 to 9 p.m. this Saturday March 10, there will be 39 businesses hosting 29 visual artists, with live music at 14 locations!
