Soul Galaktik began in 2003 as a musical project envisioned and headed by Jose Sousa.
The objective was to creatively embrace and develop distinctive musical currents, ranging from easy listening, down tempo to uplifting funky vibes. Soul Galaktik creates its own language and carries a refreshing outlook with the intention of revitalising the genre and making way for a unique stage experience where the songs are performed and intricately interpreted by the musicians.
Predictable sequences and pre recorded tracks are left aside… in favour of a more personal communication between the musicians and the audience and giving the songs an organic feel…creating something quite unique within a musical style that has always been impregnated with a heavy digital load and a lot of strong electronica.
Soul Galaktik loves to make distinctive, varied music and this is something that can be appreciated from the moment you hear the first note.
In 2005, their first LP was published by Bunkerlab (www.bunkerlab.com) from Barcelona, under the title “Stick n Stones”. The showcase received impressive reviews from critics and from its success, many concerts ensued…which allowed them to polish their unique sound and develop their identity as a band.
From there, they performed at various events and well known clubs, including Apollo (Barcelona) and Siroco (Madrid) They were also asked to play at the Festival de Cine in Malaga.
Their ever evolving mixture of music is infused with various elements of Soul, Latin music (occasionally including touches of flamenco) Break Beat, Nu Funk, Jazz and Electronica…making them the perfect guests for many different types of events. Their eclectic combination of urban rhythms, elegant ethnic tones and the mixed races of the members of the group gives their music something distinctive and special…accessible to everyone…creating a connection with the audience wherever they go.
