Apologies for the delay. The re-issue is now set for release December 8th! .. record review by Rob Patterson from Nov. 8, 1991 .. Soulhat- Live At the Black Cat Lounge .. I wouldn't exactly call Soulhat retro, but their loping guitar styles & breezy ambience do recall the musical bonhomie of the 1960's & early 1970's- quite a feat in itself here in the 1990's. By recording live, they've let their music breathe in all it's unpretentiously appealing glory. The songs & their style are deceptively simple stuff, yet that's the charm here. Soulhat's rhythmically conscious rock n' roll is so sincere & enjoyable you'd have to be a curmudgeon not to be won over, & if any local release embodies the spirit of Austin this year, it's probably this one. ***1/2 - Rob Patterson -
