After studying ballet with Anya Evans, Martha Graham Contemporary and rock jazz at the London Studio Centre, Rae Scott started treading the boards as a dancer. Hoping to turn professional she joined the Romeo Agencia touring Italy with dance troupe Body & Soul. However her passion for music and song led to a natural progression into singing and she began performing in many of the piano bars and clubs around Italy.
On her return to London she joined vocal dance quintet Masquerade releasing One Nation under A Groove with Morgan Khans Streetwave label, the band going on to tour music venues across the country. She was then invited by record producer Peter Richards to record an album of duets with The Chosen Few frontman Errol Brown.
After a meeting at A Major studios she began recording with renowned producer Andy Reynolds and began a five year creative partnership. As well as writing and recording original material with Andy for Solid Noise Productions, Rae recorded a cover version of the Jon Bon Jovi hit single Miracle and original dance single You and Me went out for release in Spain. She also began working as a session singer/backing vocalist and recorded a catalogue of advertising jingles at A Major for radio FM Fukuoka in Japan. In one such session vocalist guitarist Richard Darbyshire of soul oufit Living In a Box expressed an appreciation of her vocal skills and offered to write some material for her. She has also recorded sessions for producer John Edwards, and other artists include Just2People, R&B singer Toyin Adekale, Mark Linley Evans on Full English Breakfast as well as live and studio sessions for The Arthur Louis Band and rock blues band Picture This.
Some time later she Joined chart-topping acid jazz band Goldbug as front woman and released Real Hip Mary through EMI records, the band touring extensively and appearing live on channel 4's The Girlie Show. After the band disbanded Rae took some time out before being invited to Spain Majorca to take part in Showtime At La Gala a variety show where she performed her own one woman show alongside a superb Temptations tribute group.
Now focusing more on private and corporate entertainment she joined vocal piano duo Cut Above and began performing at private functions, working men's clubs and hotels at home and abroad. Enjoying the real and intimate atmosphere of this kind of live work Rae felt she was finding her niche and began to concentrate on the high-end of the market. She put together an extensive repertoire to cater to a wide-ranging audience, from popular soul classics to mainsteam jazz swing favourites. Having delighted audiences throughout the uk with motown/soul group Mission Blue, she now presents Soul Jazz Diva incorporating first class musicians or top quality custom made backing tracks. Rae Scott is passionate about live performance and performing her own unique musical interpretation for international private/corporate audiences. She will quite effortlessy bring sheer quality, sophistication and a sassy edge to any occassion. You are guaranteed a stellar performance. Rae is also a songwriter/lyricist and is busy writing original material for her debut Under The Radar. Please see website for live dates and any releases!
