ROR001 THE SHAKE! Troubled Scene" b/w "Into the sun" 7”p/s.....Combining the style and poise of the Small Faces, the energy and DIY ethic of the Libertines and the tunes of Arthur Lee & Love, The Sonics and Motown, The Shake have proved themselves to be one of the hardest working bands around. The band have been picking up several rave reviews and new fans in the last few months, and their hard work paid off when they were given the chance to release 'Troubled Scene' in March 2006 on Rowed Out Records. A few copies left, but very nearly sold out!

THE SHAKE! give us classic rock ‘n’ soul with THE IMPACT’s 60s style stomper and THE LOST 45s mellow winner completing the UK line-up. To Europe where we have from Norway, THE INDIKATION with a great groover from their “In terms of The Indikation” CD, THE HERETICS give a sike slice of R&B and THE SMELL OF MUTINY provide psychedelic beat-rock. From Sweden come the excellent MOVEMENTS with a track from their ‘Grain of oats’ CD. Two bands from Germany next – the manic beat masters THE BLOW-UPS and BeatRevolver who both provide top garage beat. Onto Belgium and the R&B mastery of THE GONKS (check out the video on myspace) and then to finish the Europe tour, to Greece and the superb FRANTIC V with a brand new track. Last and definitely not least to the USA and Australia and those stalwarts of garage R&B – THE WOGGLES with a track from their ‘Ragged but right’ CD. Oz/Europe band DollSquad play an excellent cover of the Ray Charles classic ‘I don’t need no doctor’.....So there you go. 18 blasts of prime ‘60s Mod Beat’. PLAY IT LOUD AND PROUD. SECOND GLANCE (Imagine the picture) from Sweden conjure up a late '60s Small Faces vibe with their superb 'Imagine the picture' and from France PENELOPE (Eden Rose) finish off the EP with a hammond filled stomper straight out of the Brian Auger / JTQ locker.
ROR004 “Do it for kicks” Split e.p. on vinyl with company sleeve.....Release 4 on the label and more of the same toppermost selection of new wave mod bands. THE UNDERCLASS STRIFE (Ambiguity deludes) from Devon put plenty of power into their pop and deliver a ‘79 mod revival style stomper. THE SCREENBEATS (Pound signs and foreign villains) - Newbury’s psychedelic soul punkers follow on from their earlier release on the label with a great slice of indie mod. Side Two has the Medway sounding band from Manchester THE PATTERNS with another garage smash (No. 1 song). A definite Hangman Records band if there ever was one. THE LOST 45s (She'e soutta sight) from Leeds close the E.P. with their last release, the usual British R&B groove from the much-loved band.
ROR005 - "Mods Mayday2009" Split E.P. on 7" vinyl with pic sleeve and insert.....Well it was 30 years ago today!! 30 years since that legendary night at the Bridgehouse, Canning Town, London. 30 years since Secret Affair, The Merton Parka’s, Small Hours, Beggar, Squire and The Mods filled the tiny backroom of a pub and the whole night was recorded and released on LP with the iconic sleeve of Robert S. Lee sat astride his immaculate vespa.....But this is now, and although the city may have changed the music is still as fresh and meaningful as it was back in 1979, even some of the original revival bands will make it to the Soundbar in Birmingham (Killermeters, Squire, Circles and Small World to name a few) for a mod-filled weekend of live music and DJs. Rowed out Records is very proud to be associated in what will be THE live event of 2009 for mods everywhere. Four bands showcase their talent on what is entitled ‘Mods Mayday 2009’ – a four track vinyl E.P. The bands featured are YEH YEH with a brand new track ‘And so begins another day’ – proof that the ‘80s modsters still have the talent to produce a quality tune, the usual fire in the belly pounder that is associated with the band. Track two is by a new band from Stevenage / Hitchin. THE PETTY HOODLUMS deliver a perfect cover of the Shocking Blue club classic ‘Send me a postcard’. A band well worth catching live for their blend of 60s mod attitude mixed with superb musicianship. Side Two is kicked off by THE UPPER FIFTH who need no introduction. Mark ‘Syd’ McGounden (Makin’ Time) is the frontman of this excellent Rhythm ‘n’ Soul act who have been blowing audiences away all over the world – check out their ‘Take the fifth’ CD on Vectra Records. The last track is by another new band THE VISITORS who have provided a real corker to end the E.P. Recorded just before the E.P. went to the pressing plant, the band shows its potential with a great slice of powerpop with a mod mind-set.
With a release date of 18th March – two months before the actual weekend event, ‘Mods Mayday 2009’ will prove to be a real appetiser for the occasion to celebrate 30 years of mod revival.
