Memphis soul is stylish, funky, uptown soul music that is not as hard edged as Southern soul. It is a shimmering, sultry style produced in the 1960s and 1970s at Stax and Hi Records in Memphis, Tennessee, featuring tasteful, melancholic, melodic horns, organ, bass, and drums.
Pop/Soul/blues trumpeter Willie Mitchell is one of several prime movers in the development of the style in the 1960s and 1970s. A representative Memphis soul artist is Al Green, who recorded at Hi Records. Several Stax artists also sometimes performed in this style, including Otis Redding and Booker T. & the M.G.'s, who also sometimes played a harder-edged Southern soul. After the rise of disco in the late 1970s, Memphis soul declined in popularity.

Thanks for the add. I'm a lyricist/songwriter, not performer. Recovering from back surg. #4. Writing is what I'm suppose to do, I feel it. Much Happiness, Success and Peace to You, Bethany
Wishing Everyone a Fantastic Week ahead and remember Buckaroos, without the Men and Women who are serving today and in the past...We wouldn't be able to enjoy what we have today! The Marine Corps Birthday is Tuesday the 10th of November with Veterans Day Wednesday the 11th...Take the Time to reach out and thank the Older Vets for their Service, could be your Dad, your Mother or just a someone on a park bench...Really, Thank them cause they are the Freedom Fighters, Hell; take them to Lunch or go buy them a Drink...the ones who wear the uniform today need all our Love and support, they are our Children doing the deeds of the Power at Hand!...Freedom isn't Free my Dear Friends...Not at all!
The King Of Pop, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the “King of Pop” and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne died June 25 2009 3 months short of his 51st Birthday. He was 50.
In 1960 the group came to Milwaukee where the King Of Pop met the group "Step By Step", that''s when the King Of Pop found out that the lead singer for Step By Step Johnnie Gee were born 1 year and 1 month apart.
The King Of Pop was born August 29 1958, and Johnnie Gee was born September 29 1959. Just like the King Of Pop Johnnie Gee admired Jackie Wilson and James Brown for their musical moves and skills, the dedication song title is called "Mesmerized". This special dedication comes from the heart and soul of Johnnie Gee, and to symbolize the life long friendship the both of these legends shared through out their careers. Michael Jackson (The King Of Pop), and Johnnie Gee (The King Of Soul) will always have a spiritual connection and something in common in the music world. We will always love Michael, and will miss him dearly.. R.I.P to the King Of Pop!
What a fatal blow the music industry, our legend has passed on...R.I.P to my special brother!
